Thread regarding Pearson PLC layoffs

Fed up of all these reviews

We've just had Mid year reviews (which before that we hadn't long done our prior reviews, so what was the point) and now Growth plan reviews?? This just seems like busy work for the sake of it.

My job (and others around me's jobs) is uncertain currently and due to undergo a restructure etc in around August. So having these reviews so frequently is all just a fat waste of time in my eyes. Because my job wont be the same as before due to them wanting to silo by function or it maybe wont even exist and I'll be made redundant, who knows. There are currently no activities for me to add to this growth plan. If I was brutally honest it would be 'continue applying for more jobs'.

I do LinkedIn training etc, but these box ticking exercises are infuriating (also the 'Now assist' AI on the growth plan su-ks, because of the whole making our job titles more generic it doesn't know where to point to).

@a6 lol you’re missing out on the new privacy videos to complement the insider man videos. The new business model involves heavy reliance on copilot and offshoring most of the work to india. Because both of those resources are really going to drive the business aren’t they. If anyone has left or is aware of new opportunities please post here too

Good points. And those of us remaining at Pearson may just be happy to do their regular job and not need a 'growth plan'. In fact if you seriously consider a 'growth plan' for yourself it probably would involve seeking a job / new challenge at another company.
Our divisional leader seemed to want everyone to complete this stuff more so that he would be high on the % completion leaderboard. So I think I will hold off for a little while longer !

I remember when job success was determined by "are the systems up?". Then along came these stupid goals and stretch goals and Inside Man videos and all the other cr-p that distracts from getting the real work done. I'm glad they laid me off, I don't miss it one bit.

@a1 We already did a skills survey some while back to tell them what we can do job/skills wise etc. But yeah, you certainly aren't wrong; it probably is. They're probably too lazy to go through the surveys and want it through a AI so it'll do it for them, then they can brag how efficient they are because AI...

I wouldn't be mad if they laid me off too, just so unmotivated at the moment and over all this sycophantic behavior up top.
