People keep wanting to blame H1B’s but the reality is people at the SVP level and above simply want to cut costs to pump the stock price to increase the value of their shares. JC’s 2031 stock package last year was worth $132m based on a price of $141/share. So that’s worth what… $400m now? Keep trying to place blame on individual contributors who don’t look like you when the real issue is those at the top being shameless in their greed at the expense of both American and H1B workers.
@cz so sorry. what org or team? Seems like this round started earlier than typical so rumors are that it's gonna continue until next week. Haven't been able to confirm that though.
This round definitely targets remote workers. That said, there are H1Bs, young & experienced Americans affected in my org.

In this case it may definitely look like H1B replacement, and that may be the end result, but the intent seems to be more “ki-l all the remote workers”. Since you don’t have the choice of being remote if you’re on an H1B, only those H1B workers who were at offices that Dell chose to close as part of this year’s death spiral (e.g. Irvine) have a chance of being affected.
@az there is no way that Dell laid off even 1 H1B. They paid good money for those visas and would never “waste money” by laying those people off.
What they do is lay off highly paid American workers and bring in cheap H1Bs.

Dell does this all the time.
