@cq I call BS. If anything, LC is butthurt about AI so he has promoted all the roles under his friends to GMs and Directors while no one working on anything AI got promoted.

No. In fact, the career progression for technical staff will be stalled for a while after last year's re-org. Many jobs saw the pay range narrowed and lowered as well. Chevron generally doesn't value engineering, as seen by the lack of published work on its behalf.
<12 months is not even possible. It will take an offer then government approval for the merger.
