Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

HR Statistics

IMO. These days, the company pays no importance to retention. The majority of XOM employees in the US will likely have a maximum of 5 years at the company before they finally realize that they are better off somewhere else. 10 years maximum if they are a glutten for punishment and think they are going to make it to retirement eligibility. Considering RE being 55 with 15 years of experience. Who in HR has the statistics of the last 5 years of attrition with the why they were separated, for Campus hires and Experienced hires? What are the breakdowns of left on own will versus MLRP?
My prediction for the future employment longevity in the US for MPT for someone based upon when hired is the following:
Age of hire: 22 - 25, probability of lasting 30+ PA cycles 3-5%.
Age of hire: 25 - 30, probablity of lasting 25 - 30 PA cycles 5-7%.
Age of hire: 30 - 35, probability of lasting 20 - 25 PA cycles 2%
Age of hire: 35 - 40, probability of lasting 15 - 20 PA cycles 0.5%
Age of hire: 40+, probability of lasting 15+ PA cycles 0%

HR does not care about retention. People are a commodity to them and they have sources of cheap labor outside of the US that are going to run the company.

@bh+1kx8qs69g - This comment is spot on and can be taken a little more in-depth. The world of work has changed and the only thing you owe a company is a good days work, and don't make your job who you are as a person, but use it as a means to survive and take care of yourself and your family. The offshoring of jobs is bad enough, but we have not even hit the true age where AI and AGI have kicked in. Once that happens there will be mass unemploymentt across all industries. The best thing you can do is educate yourself on what is coming. There will be another financial bubble that burst with the AI bubble. First thing to do is make sure your savings and investments are protected from it. If you are in Index funds and target funds most are top heavy with the Mag 7 tech stocks. The SP500 is about 30-35% made up of the Mag 7. When the bubble burst it will be felt across retirement accounts, savings, investments, etc. This is what people should focus on and not some crazy corporate culture you can do nothing about. Just keep your focus on your job, and educate yourselves the best you can on what is coming, and be prepared.

HR tries to increase attrition in HC10 and minimize attrition in LC0.1 (Low Cost 0.10 times normal salary)

Just look at the much higher NSI targets in HC10 vs LC0.1, which ironically is the inverse of the performance of the two groups.

Give the checker/correctors NSI then promote the ones making the mistakes!

HR is moving to India too it seems. You're going to get the holy trinity of EM, MSP and 3rd party support from India.

@as I may be in the minority here, but I think this makes you sound like an objectively bad person. I understand putting in less effort if you’re not being rewarded. But if you’re pushing work on to others by not completing yours or if you’re purposely making the atmosphere worse for individuals around you that may be working hard or doing your best, that’s wrong.

@a9 Don't you ever get tired of complaining about other people complaining? Maybe they're complaining just so you'll have something to complain about. Go look in the mirror. There's the complainer with the huge speck in his eye!

PS: This is the complaint board. Do you think people came here to make gratitude lists? If employess had other places i.e. yammer or honest surveys where they felt heard, they might use them. Instead, this is where they come to you know...vent, share frustrations, discuss problems that everyone can relate too..you know... aka complaining!

Every employee regardless of age or experience is on a 1-year transactional contract unless you are on the Executive Committee or Board of Directors.

@a9 Venting is healthy. What’s not healthy is the people who bottle everything up, let it rot inside them, and then go out into the world poisoning everyone else. You see them every day. those stiff, awkward smiles, pretending their life is flawless while quietly grinding other people’s morale into dust. They don’t deal with their own mess, so they dump it on whoever is closest. They ruin careers, wreck confidence, and walk around acting like they’re the heroes of their own story. It’s not “stress.” It’s collateral damage. And they leave bodies behind literally (XOM did amazing job in training employees with "diversified" mental health issue), but emotionally, professionally, socially. They ki-l people’s drive, their dignity, their sense of worth. All while sipping their coffee and pretending everything is perfect.

@aq

No.

I reject your simplistic worldview. I will stay. I will complain. I will do very little work. I will squander time and any other available corporate resources. I will carry an unpleasant and unapproachable demeanor to any in-person environment.

Sorry if you don't like it. It's not changing anytime soon, so find a way to manage.

@a9

I will. Just as soon as you stop incessantly bootlicking.

Do let me know if you ever become capable.

Causing mental trauma and anguish in people is a classic trait of XOM. Now, you have to decide to leave the toxicity or stay in. If you want to leave for better life leave. If you want to stay and milk the cow until dry (like the mgmt.) stay, don't complain. Neither is wrong. Choose your path instead of complaining.

@am this! 100% this. I painfully witnessed this exactly from ground level. TG was a shame but blessed by DW and hence untouchable.

@a9 you are the perfect example of the gaslighting puppets XOM has placed in every corner of the company. Hope you dont act and treat your friends and family like this.

@OP TG (who just retired with a glorified LI post) a greatly incompetent, id--tic, and arrogant individual appointed by DW destroyed HR org. to its core. HR now only and indiscriminately works for the execs and not employees. Look at all HR services at all levels in every regions. Nothing they do serve an average employees anywhere we operate.

Do you guys get tired of complaining every single day? If you don’t like Exxon then leave. It’s simple. No one recruited you. You applied. Leave and go find better. If you were a better worker you wouldn’t be complaining
