@gt Your traits being the wrong hole and lack of sanity precede your slop. Don't have to try.
@gt Certainly not insane. Clueless and not too bright, sure.
@fy Certainly not true. As a former manager, I had to cut the highest performers, the mentors, the teachers. I was given $ targets and a list. The cuts were of the highest paid for the prior 4 cuts before I was cut and the highest paid on the team. My lowest performer was my lowest paid, and they are still there. Can't let him/her go, or certain customers' contracts can't be filled as they require a US Citizen on US soil to do the work.
Nothing will ever be able to convince me Vantage isn't SM.
Just keep subscribing to his own BS.
@gg I'm not insane and I do not appreciate the accusation. I am very well liked in the workplace and I have tons of friends who're with Teradata. We get lunch often onsite.
All I am asking is did they put their best foot forward and did they do everything in their power to work on high impact work? It's a fair question, not even trying to be an a$#hole. Teradata has labor overseas to follow the sun, and I have seen some excellent work from the offshore teams in India. I'd argue their code is higher quality than an American college grads work - and they push much harder. It's not just about cost it's about impact and shipping stuff out.
@fp are you in product?
@fy Are you insane? Like legit insane? They are cutting anyone who has knowledge, expertise, probably makes a higher salary BUT gets things done. They are cutting anyone who enforces delivery. Obviously, few teams actually deliver.
The people being kept are cheap labor. With cheap labor comes cheap quality and lack of delivery. More employees and less delivery is still not success.
Oh and they are keeping the managers who just nod and say yes. Check into them and be surprised what's behind the curtain.
@g1 You may not be trying to be an a$$hole, but you’re succeeding. We are so fortunate to have you on the board so you can advise us all about what is peak performance. Since Teradata is not doing well, you must not be contributing peak performance either. So, let us know when the layoff reaper comes for you so we can gloat.
While I feel bad for those impacted tomorrow, I also think this they will appreciate the stress, hopelessness, and agony is finally over. This place is doom and gloom, watching a slow-motion train-wreck, and going nowhere (good)...maybe stepping away from the grind will give them a fresh perspective that there is life after Turdata.
@g0 I'm not trying to be an a$#hole I just want them to be honest about their contributions to Teradata. I can't tell if they're being honest about not slacking on the job it's not toxic or kicking them while they're down. It's holding them to a higher standard
@fy wtf is wrong with you, kicking ppl when they’re down. Toxic af
@fp sorry about the loss of your role. I hope you're doing ok... Can you comment on your general performance within Teradata? The people I've seen cut usually are not great ICs they typically lag and are back of the pack
different orgs have set different dates. I know products have it planned for next week, not sure about services / sales / GTM.
For those impacted - Good luck with your search for next role / retirement. Market is picking up so I hope you land the next opportunity quickly.
@fp Very sorry for you. Are you US based?
Gone today, was expecting tomorrow but it happened at 4.30pm. Time to let the sun shine on my face
I’ve heard rumours of a restructure in GTM in EMEA, global market and APJ.
The popcorn bowl is polished, and fresh popcorn is ready to be popped. Interesting week.
They will have to retain the last US-based employees on some teams in order to maintain their legal requirements with some customers. They will keep the person who needed the most hand-holding on the team.
Tic toc tic toc. Soon……………..
@ck ongoing with known meetings on wed
Is it ongoing or just rumours?
Congrats India-based team on your success. You won the golden prize. You won return to office, long commutes, getting rid of US employees to secure your stance in this company. You won't get raises. AI earned them. You won't get bonuses. AI did the work. Just enjoy this ride. Do not complain about the long hours, impossible deadlines, rude LT, on call support or the cleanliness of your office. You wanted this. You got it. You won.
Consolences to the employees who have lost their jobs in the past few months and to those about to.
@av Super engineer is the leprechaun larping as a dev.
Maybe super-engineer will get it this go-round and can wander off to bring his brilliance to a more deserving company.
