Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Sounds like once they rif soon after a union Eisp will be announced

Sadly it will probably be the regular one.In which case there maybe a few that are planning on leaving soon so they will benefit. But the rest who are not close to Medicare eligible will stay the next 4 to get closer to that age.Me being one !!!The current medical retirement disaster was one of the biggest mistakes of the last few negotiations on the part of the union .Probably right after the worst one deciding to give up new members pensions.I remember adamantly saying no way to both issues .While most of my brainwashed fellow members kept repeating what the union told them that we will get it all back later when things are better with economy and people are more on our side .Ya right.I will say union wise it has provided some job security and little better treatment then being non.We have also watched the mismanagement within the ranks become a neutered company run union .Wishing luck to all my long term buddies that you get that big Eisp your waiting for but sadly it may be more disappointing

Just hang on. There is a concept of a plan to take care of all of this.

@bd only 1 problem … SS and Medicare have been funded by each individual thru their working career. Give me that tax money you took just off of me for my entire career and give me interest on it caz you charge interest (only the social security and Medicare) . I could’ve left 10 years ago if that were the case

For all of you jumping to support the union with their lack of action . Other local unions have healthcare costs for their members they get good care … good pensions ….. I’m talkin union electricians or contractors etc that don’t have a specific company . So riddle me this …. Why doesn’t the union lower their donations to politicians )while getting nothing in return) and use dues money to fund healthcare costs for pre Medicare retirees ? Why not let the union absorb some costs to ordinary medical and pension costs …. Once they are paying out of pocket they aren’t gonna sit on their axx not fighting to get those things back . Stop funding raising a minimum wage … your dues paying members are losing as minimum wage incomes go up . We aren’t getting equal % raises so inflation ki-ls our higher wage as this takes place .

@b2 union didn’t address the cap issue in negotiations in previous contracts. They get paid to handle this sh-t and they didn’t. Just like they sold out any new hires from previous contracts

@ax you're d-mber than a tree stump. This is not specifically a union issue, or even a Verizon issue. This is a whole USA issue. The billionaire owned media and the bought off Republican politicians have convinced half of the working class that if they want universal healthcare, that they're "sOciAliSts!" Oh, and where is the better cheaper healthcare plan that the orange man has been promising since 2016?

I don’t think anyone thought the price of medical care would be as high as it is today. I know I didn’t. Now I’ll be here til Medicare.

@ab Technically it's 1 space after the period. 2 space was during the typewriter error. lol

Punctuation belongs right at the end of the sentence, no space. Then you put 2 spaces after the punctuation before beginning the next sentence. Most people learn this in grade school, and I assume you are well into your 50s at least. Do better.

@OP An EISP should only be taken by the people that are ready to leave. Some of you guys think it is a magical offer that will give you a financial windfall. Guess what, it isn’t. It’s a little icing on the cake for those who are ready to leave .
