We desperately need more people, we're dying over here, but we're being told nobody is being hired currently. Is this true? I haven't heard anything about a hiring freeze happening.

haha i doubt it. why would they hire when they can get everyone else to do 4 jobs for the price of 1?
There is hiring in certain areas,yeah, but is there not some ruling where if people are RIF-ed you not allowed to fill that particular role for 6 months or maybe is is a year. So some rolling gaps whilst time catches up which means pressure for some time.
I know critical thinking skills are hard for most of you, but an easy google search to the xerox employment portal will show you that we are indeed hiring. And before somebody tries to call BS, I’ve seen multiple people hired in our region recently for different roles: sales, service, production, etc. Sorry, janitor roles are still frozen so most of you will have to wait for a future date. Don’t quit your Subway job yet. Keep making my sandwiches.
