Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Hey managers, firing people to make the oligarchy richer is wrong. Don't be an enabler of the decimation of the middle class.

Lie your a-s off about why you can't be working Thursday:
Your throat is raw, you lost your voice, you are sick.
Someone close to you died.
Dropped your phone and lost all of your contact numbers.
Etc..

Terrible things have been done throughout history by "regular" people at the direction of those "above" them. Don't be one of those people. Stand up, find another job, whatever you need to do to keep some modicum of self respect and respect for your fellow human.

Hey Manager, feeling your group looking at you funny? Maybe a little sick to your stomach knowing what you have to do tomorrow? You can't undo the bad decisions you make and the lives you sc--w up by carrying out the inhumane directions you are given. So, figure out a plan to put the burden back up on the people making the horrible decisions to begin with. Else, you are just as guilty as those above you. Dan, the C-suite, and the board do not, and cannot do this without the complicity of those carrying out their orders.

Wait until Friday to see how the left over people from your team looks at you.

Guilty conscience, @af? Cowboy Dan wants to save 5 billion dollars by lowering capex and cutting headcount. For what? To raise the stock price? Bigger bonuses for the C-suite? More profits for the already obscenely rich? Paid for on the backs of the people who built and maintain the network (including selling it and taking care of customer needs). With these cuts comes a lesser network and lesser customer service. Not to mention the THOUSANDS of families who are currently, and will suffer do to the loss of income and health insurance.

No one has to sacrifice themself, just stop doing bad. These managers should have stopped doing bad stuff long ago, and these layoffs are BAD. Bad for the company, bad for individuals, and bad for society.

Managers don't get a say in RIFs. Consultants run spreadsheets for VPs and say who. Senior Directors her final say based on business need. Managers are just told who to have a meeting with along with a HRBP. They are just the ones forced to bear bad news.

So you want a manager to “sacrifice “ themselves to save an employee? That is hilarious 😂. They got a job to do

Most of the managers have fired people previously, without regard to performance, because they were told to. They delude themselves into believing they are doing what's best for the company. And, they are too proud, chicken sh-t, or unskilled to step into an individual contributor role. Pathetic.
