@cg Sure, I assume you covered the hotel and cost for changing and extending the original ticket beyond what was allocated for business travel.
I also assume you weren’t going to an international country to outsource engineering, product, project and operations jobs from your fellow coworkers.
If you’re an Indian manager, making decisions about outsourcing jobs to your offshore counterparts, you can afford your own damn ticket for international first class travel for personal use.

@d6 This is all a moot point if the following were true:
1) jobs stopped getting outsourced overseas and given to Endin nationals even domestically.
2) those workers actually built their own companies and created their own wealth internally with their own resources in their own country.
3) if 2 were true, you wouldn't have them looting the American economy to fund their economy back home--they could actually stay in their home country and visit their own family more often with less expensive flights.
Yes, yes. I know. Nationalism. What a concept. The same concept the country of India does by not letting foreigners work in India.....
@cg My point, exactly! But given it is India trip and Indians getting the benefits it isn't acceptable, apparently. Now if it were flying home to Europe or Australia to meet with your white family then hey, brilliant move!
Not to rain on the pi----g party, but when I traveled for work in previous jobs I would add a few days of sightseeing with my wife. Naturally I paid her ticket and all expenses happening after the work portion of the trip was over. Yes my return flight was on the company dime but it would have been regardless of the day I flew home. How do we know that isn’t the case here?

The entire return to office push has been touted as "collaboration". We all know that's really not what it's about, but again, not the point.
Firing someone for not complying and then sending their job to India where it's even harder to collaborate is hypocritical as fu-k. I work with offshore. We get like 2-3 hours of overlap every day. Each job sent overseas directly takes away from this whole "collaboration" motivation they supposedly have.
You guys need to stop cribbing and accept the new workforce and make some friends

I know of someone who will be fired soon for not coming into the office to "collaborate in person". So who are they replacing that person with? Someone 12 hours away, NOT in person to collaborate. Fu-k every exec who supports this sh-t.
@a7 No one with a functioning moral compass thinks company travel expenses are a personal vacation fund. If you're traveling for work, then tacking on a family visit, a friends' reunion, or a little sightseeing adventure on the company's dime completely misses the point. That's not what business expenses are for, it's an obvious conflict of interest. The mental gymnastics it takes to convince yourself this is acceptable would be impressive if they weren't so shameless. This is something only someone from India would think is okay!
She is the "hometown girl" in Chennai - of course they are family over there and excited to be taking jobs from the WFH holdouts...

Don't forget, the reason RTO is so important is because in person collaboration matters. That's why we hired offshore contractors.
Most Indian managers are treating this opportunity as a luxury trip to India. Taking additional weeks off and returning at a later time after spending a couple of weeks with their families. It is unfortunate that they are openly bragging about their travel plans to the whole world.
