Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Before layoff inform

If a company decides to cut a role, that decision is rarely sudden — it’s planned weeks, often months, in advance. So why not give employees 4–5 months’ notice before the actual layoff date, instead of ending things overnight?

Now, why would they do that.... ?
They are a bunch of psychos who draw pleasure of surprising people...You would ruin their party if you would let anyone know. Then, this forum, would be obsolete.

That would have been true if the employees weren't expecting it for 6 months anyway. Leadership 101: don't be d-mb as a box of rocks

Management 101. If you let an employee know they will be let go ahead of time, they will not produce for you the remainder of their time.

Think of the damage a rifted "disgruntled" employee could do if they have access to the network, sensitive information, wireless switch, etc. In other words we are letting you go but you have full access to all systems, network and applications for the next 4 months.

If you see the following signs from your manager, your on the RIF list ...
Sudden Distancing: Your manager avoids eye contact, cancels or shortens your meetings, and replaces casual banter with an uncomfortable distance.
Ghosting: If you are messaging them in Slack. and they are ghosting you, this is also a Red flag.
Asking for volunteers: If they ask you if you want to retire, you are being considered for a RIF.
