I see exhaustive number of complaints however I do not see anything factual where somebody was truly laid off as a result of RTO or anything else because it’s all vague and not specific. I think the intent of the site has lost its path. Instead of making a comment as my teammate was laid off maybe because they weren’t performing but be more specific as I have yet to see somebody be laid off in two years

@ad that’s how I feel too. I really thought something was wrong with me or the way I do work, but since coming here after teammates were laid off before Christmas last year and no one on the team said more than a peep about it, I now feel seen and understood, like other people are also suffering and it’s not just me.
"Intent of this site has lost its path ..."
Not really. The posts on this site simply mirrors what's happening at the bank. Good times saw fewer posts as people were just going about their jobs. Sh---y times since GK, GCC India increased posts. Not Rocket Science, Bud!
This is someone trying to extract details - probably an HR plant.
@OP ok so you do know that JR is rolling out a "relocate to a hub or lose your job (not severance)" right? She is doing it in waves. They were given a "choose by" date and a "lose your job if you say no" date. I would bet there are at least 1000 remote employees in her organization. THAT DID HAPPEN! She announced it in her big meeting.
And I guarantee you 100% when those people get fired for not being IN PERSON to COLLABOARATE IN PERSON, their role will be sent Rajesh in India who will NEVER be N PERSON to COLLABOARATE IN PERSON with their American counterparts.
"We don't want remote people anymore so we will fire them and replace them with EXTREMELY remote people, like 12 fu--ing hours away". The irony.
@ac All remote corporate compliance workers were laid off last week, is that good enough for you?
@ac I know some whi was terminated for non compliance, but the person just would NEVER come in
OP if you don't see layoffs happening on a regular basis it's either because your eyes are closed (willfully blind) or you work in some isolated part of the bank where you don't have any exposure to what's going on. I suggest reading (among other things) the Org Announcements. There's a link on the front page of the bank's intranet. Endless re-orgs which almost always include role eliminations. The details are not always spelled out below the Manager level, but basic things are easily inferred.
I know 11 off the top of my head in my area. Most of those were geographically driven or admin functions that were deemed not critical. I'll also say that when RTO hit we were told how many people were assigned to my floor, and that number is about 2/3 of what it was back then. I'm not sure all that means, but it feels like a lot of people are missing.
Line of business marketing teams have been hammered this year.
The Bank is offshoring the majority of the Ops and Risk BL to India (e.g. GCC), however they are keeping in mind:
- If you do this too fast you will cause catastrophic failures which can't be hidden from regulators
- Federal regulations, like the WARN act, require mandatory reporting and it is paramount to circumvent these reporting thresholds. Hence why RTO is a disaster in the HR department, the real HR work is avoiding violating federal and state regulations on reporting laying off employees
- Laying off the Risk Departments. Offshoring to India, rather than China or Eastern Europe, is famously far lower quality, so you need to get rid of the people whose job is to ask questions and say no
@OP then you're not paying attention, multiple people have posted this year alone they'd been laid off for various reasons. Just because you personally don't know of anyone or the parties who have made postings on layoffs don't provide details doesn't mean it's not happening.
This site slightly helps keep me going, not because of the subject matter ( which is very grim) but it makes me feel I’m not alone experiencing the thankless misery that is working for US Bank these days. It helps to know that other people see it too. It might not help the situation ( only getting another job will) but it helps tolerate it.
I know of many layoffs but I don't know anyone that was laid off with RTO compliance as the specific reason. At this point it seems like a total myth and the bank is actually slow to fire for this reason if at all.
@OP I had team mates laid off last year and in Feb of this year in Risk.
This site isn't known to every employee.
Layoffs happen every quarter, sometimes more frequently. I know more than a dozen people who've been laid off this year alone and those are just the ones I've heard about directly.
This place is a he-l hole. Let people have their outlet.
