Thread regarding Fidelity National Information Services Inc. layoffs

Hugging an easy job while upskilling through personal development and AI projects until I get a severance or a better offer. I've plateaued in my position and don't see myself moving upwards or 100% secure in my role after this year. The recent RIF destroyed all motivation. I'm writing my own agentic harnesses, frameworks, and don't plan to use the skills here. The bed they are making doesn't have clean sheets. I've been with the company 10 years too long but have enjoyed a certain freedom that I might not have elsewhere.

You have to wonder if they are actually trying to ruin productivity on purpose or are just that stupid

Despite an overbloated executive suite and hundreds of millions of outside management consulting, there still is no credible plan

I've been with the company for more than 25 years, within 3 years of my retirement goal, 100% remote, and have 6 weeks of PTO.

I'm also only putting in maybe 10 hours of actual work per week while still outperforming most others around me.

As such, I'm just waiting for my 52 weeks of severance and letting them pull the trigger on when I retire.

Honestly just lazy lol. I’ve had some interviews and I keep ghosting recruiters after a few IMs.
I’m currently 100% remote and get 5 weeks PTO and make over double the median salary for my area.
The jobs I’ve entertained either come with more money but worse benefits or less salary for similar benefits.

Hoping for severance. Unfortunately, working in this cesspit of useless leadership has meant that I've lost confidence in my abilities. Imagining explaining my day to day role in an interview feels humiliating but they don't know how difficult it is to do even the most basic things in this place.

@af apologies to the OP, I misread that you’d been let go 20 years ago instead of let go after 20 years service.

Just waiting for a severance. 90% of the time goes into preparation for new jobs, doing just bare minimum at lowest quality possible to stay alive

@a3 the employees are keeping this company running DESPITE the best efforts of the C suite. Not that they are actively sabotaging it, they are just so stupid and short sighted. They cannot be smart enough to actively sabotage it. No way.

@am yes, collaborating with colleagues has value as well as the remote work. Everyone has a different set of priorities.

I only stayed as long as I did because I loved everyone on my team, which I know is rare. Otherwise I was sticking it out for severance, and thankfully my time came.

Fully remote is still worth a lot to me.

@OP you need to move on with your life, and perhaps seek some anger management.

@OP I'm 2 years away from my planned retirement. Getting let go with full severance would be a gift. At that point, I will say "close enough" and retire.

I feel like it’s easier said than done. But at the end of the day, you are 100% correct! We should all be looking to get the heck out of this joke of a company. It’s honestly embarrassing how poorly this company is run.
