Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

It's exhausting to feel like we're just a line item to be eliminated

Whenever they talk about reducing costs, we're the cost they want to cut. Do they seriously think the company can survive without the people who actually do the work? Not the ones who attend meetings about meetings, but the people who keep things running. We're supposed to be their best asset, but we're treated like we're completely disposable. Job security feels like a distant memory at this point.

Nobody is doing anything because they have all given up. BOD doesn't care. Senior staff is just draining off the rest of the cash for themselves. It will be over soon.

@e5 problem is the top level execs don't see it, there are a group of people around a cauldron protecting their dept's and pals. The wastage here is unreal. CMO? Heads of depts etc. Print has died, IT services are trying to do things other companies were doing 30 years ago. They need to go back to basics and start caring for staff like they portray all over social media platforms and they might actually see who wants to be here and who doesn't

This is a widespread feeling backed by reality. I'm really hoping the board addresses this issue. They have, to this point, failed to engage the people who need to stay and deliver this change program, and that needs to change. There are no longer jobs for life in any sector; that's the cold truth, but there has to be some form of stability and reward structure for those who have chosen to remain and deliver this change. The harsh reality is that those on the shop floor are risking more than anyone around that top table to deliver this program, and they are unrewarded, alone and vulnerable. Anyone can see there is not $ immediately available to fund raises, but use some imagination. I would have liked to have seen a widespread adoption of some form of equity share across the employee base. If people have chosen to stay and you need them to stay to deliver the change required, and it is required, then give them skin in the game, give them focus, give them purpose. Winning teams win because they share a common purpose and goals and are then structured and supported to deliver them. Xerox has failed to set these; in fact, it's failed to even set a common single personality (Legacy Lexmark?? still really??) Instead, it sends people out and then shouts at them from the sidelines. (Soccer World Cup vibe going on here)

@cs

It goes back further than that. Going outside the company to hire Thoman was the beginning of the end.

Xerox used to be such a robust company with amazing leadership. It stopped at Anne Mulcahy. After she transitioned away it was the start of downsizing, morale, sell off of anything pertinent. The company we knew is no more. It’s a shell of he-l trying to create one last payoff for the board. Make mo mistake, you are a number and no more. Anyone who thinks differently you’re naive.

Trolls are here to get you people outta this poor excuse for a company.

Hopefully you don’t have to experience what we already did, and you don’t have to keep going through it.

Believe it or not. Some of us actually care.

@OP this has hit the nail on the head, there are trolls in here who just want to stir the pot but you have explained how everyone is feeling at the moment, no satisfaction, customers and decent staff leaving in their droves and always feeling the next day could be the last here.
