Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Too many vague rumors

We have so many rumors and so few details. It'd be great if we started getting proper information instead of just little scraps.

@ce There was a Town Hall today? I did not get an invite. Nothing in calendar or on CNET. Weird.

Today my PL told me that in a leadership meeting yesterday that more people than expected applied for VSP (which explains the date being pushed from 7/15 to 7/27) but no other details provided. I applied and will be disappointed with anything other than being approved for the 9/4 end date and moving on.

That is not it. When layoffs are rolling- there is no WARN. Maybe there will be one- maybe just one but they will try to avoid at all costs. WARN is costly in many ways. This idea that you will know in August is just nonsense for so many as these will be rolling. For some it may come in August- sure but that does not mean you are "safe" if you make it past that month and are still around. Sheesh.

Either way, HR said we will know officially on 7/27. Call HR if you have questions about the VSP. If you did not apply, you will find out your fate when HR or PL holds a meeting for your department. Keep preparing for now. People here have mixed answers, so we won't find out anything here. Waiting is hard, but we have to wait. Practice patience as that is all there is left to do!

If that date is correct either they got the number intended with VSP or they will push that date out as well. So far no WARN notices have been filed.

@b9 where and when did they confirm Aug 7 date

@b9 the VSP my guess it will tomorrow. Friday is the best time to notify. (BY Mon 7/27) That’s so everyone can not sit around the water cooler sharing their individual stories. They go home and soak it all in over the weekend. Having the weekend gives perspective. The ISP Friday Aug 7 makes sense. Same reasons. Good luck to all.

@aq I think you have Internet and you would know Centene does not hire h1bs for a very long time now. Most of the Indians you see at Centene are h4 eads for which Centene doesn't need to spend anything . Please read on that visa too .

If you signed up for VSP, you will most likely get it. You will know the final answer by Monday. If you did not sign-up for VSP, you will know your fate by August 7th. Company has already announced that restructuring will be announced/completed by this date, i.e. wait is almost over so don’t fall for rumors.

This is how every layoff I've experienced at Centene has felt. Was anyone else here during the 2023 layoffs, when the news leaked and everyone was on edge, wondering if they'd be called into a meeting? That was incredibly stressful.

This time feels a little different—not quite as intense—but I'm still ready for the uncertainty to be over. It's sad because this used to be such a great company to work for. Whatever happens next, I'm choosing to move forward with peace and gratitude. I hope my VSP was accepted so that i can peacefully bow out.

@ak It doesn’t really take much for their world to come crumbling down.

Just off the top off of my head, I can think of a couple things. CMS could tighten regulations even further or next year go back to reducing CMS rates. We all saw how that affected health insurance stock prices. The other thing that could happen, is our elderly generation on Medicare and Medicaid could be made privy how these corporations are abusing H1-B temporary work visas and replacing American citizens with this cheaper labor. And then decide to either switch to Traditional (Original Medicare) or switch to a plan with a nonprofit health insurance company.

And as to your point about of shareholders or those on corporate jet care about me, the answer is no, I don’t care about that at all. I have my own hobbies, my own life, and my own spiritual life. I served my country in the military and proud of my service. If these large health insurance corporations want to throw aside persons like me for foreign workers and drive me to poverty, I will survive. I have learned to be content in being rich and now in being poor. To drive me out, with my intelligence, my I.Q., my health insurance and computer science acumen, is the loss of these health insurance corporations. I have nothing to be ashamed of regarding how I was treated.

Just they way it was suppose to play out.

Thin the heard a little with natural attrition. The plan is done...and probably has been for weeks. The one's at the top just need to finish their vacations.

Just remember, shareholders and folks on the corporate jet don't care about you.
