In my department of 25, at least 10 are actively interviewing. The rest are too tired or too scared to start.

Years ago, prior to me foolishly accepting a job@Citi, I worked for a competitor.
I applied for over 1100 jobs over the course of 3 years with that competitor company, until I finally got a job offer! I got some interviews during those 3 years, but it took 3 Fvcken years for the company to finally hire me!
When I submitted my resignation letter so that I can go work for Citi (Note: I didNot and refused to disclose who my next employer is.), I mentioned the above to the company during the exit interview which I rarely attend because exit interviews Only Help the companies, NOT employees. Why should I help them when they Fvcked Me Over???
I told the prior company that employees are customers too, which Employers tend to forget. We can choose Not to buy their products/services, and also Not recommend them to family & friends, and even disparage the company to family & friends.
Employees, or at least I myself, doNOT forgive or forget. Even though the company finally hired me, it took 3 years AND 1100 job applications for the company to finally give me a job offer!
I also told the HR Rep during the exit interview meeting that because of the above, I have and Never will be a customer of Company-X. My manager was present during this meeting.
They were both surprised. It was as if it Never occurred to them or the company that Employees are Customers too! AND that Employees don't Forget or Forgive.
Why am I telling you this?? Maybe it will make you feel better or feel like you're Not alone, or Not the only person in the world who's had similar experiences.
Applied to over 200 external jobs. Have had maybe 5 interviews that went no where. I want out so bad that I’m getting close to just quitting without a job. But I need a paycheck!!! Might have to go back to school or do a trade
@a1 you must have been in some cr-ppy companies or maybe it’s a banking thing. I was at three fortune 100 companies (no financial services) before Citi and wow night and day.
So glad to retire this year rather than endure the never ending BS
It has always been like this everywhere I have been. I guess Citi was different because after 2008 it hired a lot of low-qualified people who were above the moon and stayed for as long as they can because also they knew no other company at that level would hire them. In places like JP/GS/MS people are so good that constant churn is standard - even in risk and other back-office jobs.
