A few folks I know that are contractors were told they can be converted to T employees. Some are in their 50s & 60s. How can this be in light of layoffs? This is supposedly coming from Legg.

too many mouths to feed and no one is safe
Most contractors don’t want to be employees.
And just when we thought we had seen it all!
Saw some folks get promoted to level 3 and 4s recently even though we were told there’s a freeze on hiring and promotions. we were also told that with the layoffs, we would be cutting responsibilities, but as expected, they dumped more work and responsibilities on my team. Now we find out we’re going to have to start working more hours and have to be available 24/7. Add to it that min 5% increase we were told we were getting only turned out to be 3%. Yeah, that hours thing, nope nope nope. I plan on resigning soon and I’m sure others on the team will pull the retirement cord.
Same ole good ole boy system that ATT is famous for!
This has always been one of the core problems at T that has caused things to be the way they are now.
Sometimes the Brother or Sister-in-law needs benefits
Very common and unfortunate. We keep being back the same turds that milked the system for years. I am always glad when the so called best ones leave. It is my hope they vanish. The big wheel will keep on turning without bringing back dead weight.
Everyone I know that's gotten laid-off has come back as a contractor. Its very common.
What difference does it make at this point, they'll be laid off within the next 3-5 years anyway!
Can they do that?
They’re not downsizing. They’re just cutting people that don’t kids enough a-s
Underhanded!
This makes no since in a downsizing environment.
