Questioning Management - Cisco

I have seen "Yes" Men rise up the ranks faster than people who question Management .

do employees question Management ?

do Managers like obedient employees who just follow orders ?

do you foster Growth and innovation by just following orders ?

Asking about Corporate culture in America . would like to better understand the unwritten rules.

Real leaders invite challenging questions and don't operate in an echo chamber like Chuck. Cisco hasn't had any real leaders for a long time, replaced by paint by numbers execs and those who clap like seals running along behind

At Cisco, career growth is a Ponzi scheme. Those at the top are desperate for Chuck and Fran's approval because they want the big bonuses that allow them to get their next vacation home or luxury trip to Lake Como. They'll do anything to please Chuck and Fran. The direct reports of those at the top will do anything to please those at the top because they want that big bonus which allows them to buy that new Maserati or remodel their pool house and so on.

At no time does anyone get questioned about business growth or competent leadership because Cisco is on an autopilot managed decline trying to squeeze as much out of the technology leadership created by Cisco employees in the 90s.

If you don't understand this, you're just being played by all of the theatrics from the ELT.

Some people have families which have worked at corporations in different industries. It's all the same 'yes man' culture at all publicly traded companies.

And some of us have worked directly for publicly traded companies where there were sizable branches of well managed business.

"Have you worked at every company?"

I'd say the root cause of the issue is that psychopaths & narcissists are skilled at climbing corporate ladders and require "yes men" and chaos cultures

just shut up and say yes, no problem to every request from your boss cause guess what, at cisco they dont care about your opinion or any bright thoughts. So just suck it up and hope they hook you up on focal time

Since this is a Cisco thread, Cisco doesn't grow or innovate, it acquires and all it needs of its minions is to create the illusion that what they acquired is being maintained. If they were the number 2 player in a much lower margin business they be burnt toast.

Asking about Corporate culture in America . would like to better understand the unwritten rules.

If you want to know if a particular sleeping pill causes racism you need a far larger sample space than Roseanne Barr. Since big corporations are global you also need to look far beyond America.

People are driven by self interest. Communist countries like Russia and China still have currency because having people choosing to use only what they need will never work - you need to limit consumption to what is produced. Everything from "minions aren't responsible for anything bad" to "I should be given a million dollars after screwing up for five years" come from children who expect everything to be given to them, and the upvotes they get show these are widespread views among the minions here. These people are every bit as driven by selfishness as the management they're complaining about and they downvote anything that forces them to look in the mirror.

Guaranteed on the next LR list if you question

Employees never question management if they want to succeed at a publicly traded company. All publicly traded companies like obedient & submissive employees.

Cisco acquires companies if they temporarily want a group of non-obedient employees to question leadership. Blue badges & contractors can't question anything.
