Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

3 days in office

Does anyone know how they are keeping track of our in office hours? Is it done by swipe? Can they tell how long we are logged straight into the network vs remotely? Does anyone know if there is a minimum hrs needed to get credit? From what I am told any time you log into my time for is considered in office.

Thanks

These areas that have over half the team members, including the manager, working from home…. . What’s the story here?

This is the have nots and haves… those who have worked here a while and must comply and those who came into the Bank as permanent WFH employees.

Creating this class of home workers is going to create jealousy and dissension among the workforce. Of all of Robins poorly thought out moves this is by far the worst of them. People can unite based upon getting screwed. People getting totally different desirable situations based upon simply being lucky enough to be hired as permanent WFH is going to create jealousy, envy, break up teams and poison our culture.

Just you watch…

These control freaks have abused us before by requiring us to install apps on our personal phones. I’m getting a burner. This is downright creepy.

Our dept doesn’t have enough seats now so they’re asking for volunteers to have their desk be a Hotelling desk, otherwise everybody’s will become Hotelling seats.

Haha brilliant! Not enough seats. This company is run by id--ts

Wait until the planned movement of our badges to our personal cell phones.
They'll be tracking you 24-7.

Me? Sorry, don't own a cell phone...wanna buy me one Robin?

Btw they know how long you're in the office— they track how long you're connected in the office location. They know some people swipe in and immediately leave— it's getting flagged.

I plan on freestyling it. I’ll be in and out, always available in core hours and because we’ll store it in Excel worksheets embedded in emailed PowerPoints I’ll look forward to it. To enhance the effect I’ll take up smoking and hangout with the senior management smoking all day on he Mellon Green with the guards right next to the no smoking signs.

We’re only in the first inning here. The dunces at the top spew out contradictory guidance upon contradictory guidance. Robin doesn’t appear to have the stones to make even a simple decision. Everybody has a different understanding… even Robin contradicts Robin. How can a completely indecisive “leader” be running a major bank? Can you imagine him making a decision on our actual business lines?

But then it gets worse… Robin thoughtlessly allowed the Bank to hire permanent work from home employees. This guarantees issues in tracking badges and far worse it create haves and have nots, balkanizes the Bank with different treatment of employees and guarantees division in the workplace.

The work culture gets worse each and every year but this year is a doozie.

How long till they want us to swipe 3 times a day so they can monitor how long we stayed in the office on our 3 days
Don’t laugh. I bet it happens.

Replying to everyone talking about the slackers ruining it for us....
You do realize that the people who are slacking while based at home are the exact same people who were slacking while we were in the office, right?
Work ethic didn't really change.....it's the way it is in most parts of your life.
Some people get away with mu---r, and some people get busted taking home a pencil.

@5yof, shouldn't we already be a powerhouse since we came into the office for 235 years until covid cuomo made us stay home?

If all of these slackers applied the same level of creativity that they do in their slacking schemes to their actual work then this company would be one heck of a powerhouse bank.

Aruba tags were the tracking device of choice, but an attorney must have advised us to discontinue their usage. Think about it, they could detect us anywhere in the building.

Two ways, next time you go to the dentist be careful because they are going to insert a microchip in your tooth and track you. If you don't have an upcoming appointment they will be injecting you with a microchip similar to when you get a dog.
HOW DO YOU THINK- BADGE SWIPES??????????!!!!!!!!!!!
It's very concerning how simple minded BNYM employees are.

Your badge swipes ARE counted and a report IS generated which goes to your manager. That's it, end of story. Pretty basic stuff.

@tqy+1m6JLOKz No, don’t break the law to avoid going into the office. Either work from home anyway, or come in and swipe and work. For now you can work in the office for 20 minutes, 3 hours, 10 hours, or 16 hours and it’s still going to count as a day in the office. If you log on from home to complete your work if you leave early or come in late then you’ve fulfilled your obligation.

Are they checking the quantity of badge swipes or just if you swiped once on a given day? I saw a line of people today where nobody wanted the door to be held open for them because they wanted the swipe.

No, don’t share badge/id unless you want to commit a crime and violate safeguarding your personal work credentials. The 1st is falsifying business records, which is a criminal act in most if not all states. Not worth it committing a crime for not wanting to go to office. You’re much much better off not going and facing the company consequences, and if your manager knows you’re doing a good job working from home you may be able to argue your case. Losing your job because you can’t commute to office while still doing all of your work ethically is much better than turning into a criminal, and failing background checks if you find a new job. Please avoid doing so and try to find a remote job. Good luck

From what I’ve been told it’s most likely badge swipes, which seems silly. Then again, coming in to the office when my job doesn’t involve “collaboration” is silly in itself.

That being said, we don’t clock in and clock out from the office so checking hours is probably not going to happen. What I find interesting is that when I ask to check to make sure I am in compliance, all I am told is “make sure you’re in three days a week” as was told to me last week. So I question the existence of such metrics altogether or whether they are going to try to do something behind the scenes to taint the numbers so that those they don’t like are showing as “non-compliant” to try to get rid of them, possibly without severance.

There is no minimum being relayed to anyone and they are monitoring badge swipes . And yes they can also tell how active you are working, in meetings on internet, which sites etc
