Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Are they really gonna force resignations?

I’ve long accepted that my time at AT&T is coming to an end, but I’m still furious over the rumor of forced resignations.

Stanley is really gonna be that sc-mmy and force us to resign so we can’t get severance and/or unemployment?

That’s just sickening to me. If he does that he can burn in he-l

The digital and electronic technicians will take care of the network when you’re on strike. Cable and wire techs can sit in there trucks.

Your replacements will be doing the needful in no time. Don't you worry about it. Stank is ready to take it on the chin for the cheaper labor.

"They'll lose a ton of experience / knowledge and not even realize they shot their own foot off until the dust settles and the work doesn't get done because you laid off all the knowledge that was doing it. lol"

100%. I saw this in action in early 2018. An employee was surplussed(although they sort of volunteered since they were going to retire soon). After a few months, the business noticed that the number of issues and the time to resolve them had dramatically increased and it was impacting sales in the ABS space. Why? Well because the employee who left was quietly taking care of them every day and prior to leaving, they transitioned their process to a contractor (a good one) who also left and their replacement was horrid.

I think it was January 2017 when they used Collaboration Zone 1.0 as the excuse to layoff thousands of managers ?

This is just the 2.0 version of that.

They'll lose a ton of experience / knowledge and not even realize they shot their own foot off until the dust settles and the work doesn't get done because you laid off all the knowledge that was doing it. lol

They dumped all the work from the previous groups that were laid off on those who remained. As it stands, most are barely keeping up and we're going to do it again ?

There is only so much work an individual can do. Asking folks to do the jobs of three people isn't going to end well.

Oh, and I have first hand experience with the amazing contractors they'll try to replace everyone with. Good luck with that one :D

Advice:
If you can, retire soon.
If you can't, start looking for another company even sooner.

I don't see AT&T existing as a company for much longer.

According to Corey Anthony’s call “they aren’t doing this to you”.

You make a choice.

"firing you with cause" if this truly goes thru, which it wont, and we are told that our job that we do at home in a non hub metro area is being moved to Dallas and we wont move there so they "fire us for cause", this is called a "constructive dismissal" and we are entitled to certain benefits by law.

go read the policy on onestop that was linked in stankeys email
read the faq

If you fail to perform your job as required, and that includes the correct job site, you are subject to discipline up to and including termination. They aren't forcing you to quit. They're firing you with cause.

Will they do it? who knows.

If an installer misses a due date the first level supervisor will be terminated without severance. The supervisors will need to stay out late every night and come in early on the weekends to ensure job completion as per CEO Stanky.

Will see. Maybe we will go on strike. That is the way to express the feelings. Why be silent and allow to be abused. This is not Stanley’s kingdom where he can do whatever and whenever he wants.

forced out is caused by hostile work environment, weekend tasks due Monday morning, & 4:50pm projects. You can choose to not resign, but work can be much worse. When the task is not complete, you are on a PIP & gone without a recommendation.

OP—
Did you take any action or offer any type of support or assistance when a majority of longterm employees were forced to retire early in order to retain medical benefits? If not, this is basically the same situation.

Many smartypants here who promote the idea that employee will be forced to quit w/o severance or unemployment. Must be Stanley’s minions who helped him to create this disaster. But watch out sneaky snakes. You will get you share too.

They aren't going to force anything. You do as your told by the job or you volunteer to quit. It is that simple.
