Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

WF-speak Bingo

Looking for the most cheesy WF-speak phrases commonly heard in meetings to put together a Bingo-type game.
Some examples:

  • Let's "pull-up" on that
  • Users are "10-keying" data into the system
  • Let's "put a pin" in that
  • Move the needle
  • Paradigm shift

Let's hear your faves.

WOW-ing, WOO-ing (Winning Over Others?) I can't remember how the letters translate to the meaning, but you get the (fake sentiment) drift. Too much saccharin for me. Are we all still in High School ?

Pretty rich hearing it as much as we do, from a company with nine of 12 open public enforcement actions still open years later

Mission Critical (any and all requests from certain managers seem to fall into this category)
Strategic Framework (a vague term applied to any deliverable so that the requestor can criticize whatever you provide)

There's been a 1000 percent increase in business jargon since CS took over. Whenever I hear a manager use business jargon you can bet he or she has no idea what their employees actually do.

"be thoughtful about"

I've found that the charlatans slinging this around invariably know nothing about which they're referring to and are simply offering lip service

Example: we'll monitor and continue to be thoughtful about......TM sentiment, impact to our customers, community feedback etc.

Be thoughtful about = thoughts and prayers = costs me nothing but makes me sound empathetic

Just think of any smug, smarmy colleague who you'd guess dedicated more time to one's linked in profile instead of actual work

In the self-congratulatory descriptions of themselves, you'll find a treasure trove of bingo jargon

"right?" when not really asking a question.

It's mostly Midwesterners trying to sound like what they think West coasters sound like (but don't).

"Right?" is used mid-sentence while someone tries to explain something.

It's used as a replacement for "do you know what I mean?" but it's overused, probably from nervousness.

“Business partners” when referring to another LOB

“Transparency”… this should not be a buzzword and has only become one within the past few years. As real transparency has fallen off of a cliff, ironically we hear the word more often from management in their gaslighting attempts!

“Laser focused”

“Best in class”

I can't stand folks who constantly use vapid business catch phrases because they think it makes them sound cool.

Fact is, business isn't cool and you all are a bunch of nose picking nerds.
