Working in corporate America is like walking through a landmine field. You work hard to climb the ladder and make a better life for yourself/family, only to have your dreams blown up because some corporate "genious" makes a gigantic error concerning "estimated revenue". Translation: innocent people lose their jobs while the corporate guy gets a slap on the wrist. Oh, and don't forget Crowne also found it a necessity to add two more board members. Pathetic!
Corporate greed=downfall of America

I volunteered as tribute. Does anyone know what the actual last day of work would be for those of us getting the severance? The announcement says you’ll know your status by August 11, but it doesn’t say how long you’re expected to keep working after it’s been determined whether you’re staying or not.

If you do reapply to Crown, get a job on the fiber side. They don’t make money but they’re untouchable as far as layoffs.

I hope everyone lands on their feet, the severance package is better than most, if you are still in love with Crown after you get the purple boot you can reapply in six months. 💜

It was a much better company before LN came in. She would not know how to cultivate good culture if it came up and kissed her. There have been concerns over her and her hiring her friends etc for years. All while telling managers to distance themselves from direct reports. Not surprised the ship is sinking.

People upset about going back into the office while the rest of us are sweating our jobs. 🙄 If it bothers you that much you should volunteer for the compensation package and let the people who are worried about losing their job keep theirs.

@3ziq+1nLGu1LD Never forget that you all helped Jay buy that fancy mobile COVID studio-slash-truck we were treated to for two years. Remember when he finally got out of the truck and walked into new palace/office in Houston? Unforgettable times! Now you too will be driven like defeated prisoners into the confines of the Clown Castle dungeon!

I love how they are going to keep the up front services and the employees that do not know those services to manage. Crown collects from the carrier and then sends crumbs to their contractors who actually have to do the work. The carriers expect what they pay for but get what Crown paid for which is usually not even 25%. "Middle Men Castle" is their new name from what I heard. Crown should stick to doing what they are, a landlord collecting rent. They could then get rid of another 3000 employees.

I think the worst part about the layoffs is the waiting period... the announcement came about a 15% cut but no one knows their fate until August 7th? That breeds anxiety. It's a horrible decision to make the "beloved" employees bite their nails and get their entire families worried for such a prolonged period. Rip the band-aid already. Also, why not ask for volunteers - people who are ready to leave anyway? That seems a bit more compassionate, no? Very sad. To all those employees at Crown biting their fingernails, waiting to hear their fate, and shaking their heads at this news, know that it's not you. It's just bad decision-making.

Reading all these comments it's amazing and somewhat reassuring to me it wasn't just me and my 3 other co workers that have felt CC has been and is corrupt from the top down. Look at these comments haha. Almost all echo corruption and nepotism etc. I hope CC reads these. I do. It's fu----g nutso.

Numbers I've heard:

  • 15% are being cut company wide.
  • 13 locations are being closed with (I believe) 2 new locations opening so they can find "talent".
  • Of the 15%, it is expected to be 40% of Tower affected (unsure of how many people are in Tower). I don't know the percentage, but it is expected to be 50 people from the Network side.
  • There will be engineering hub locations. Those in that department not currently working out of a hub location will not be expected to move. It seems as if no new hires or promotions can occur within network engineering without being/relocating to a hub.
  • Severance is 2.5 weeks pay for every year of service. It has also been mentioned that because our PTO is front loaded now at the beginning of the year that what you have left isn't expected to be paid out.

Mid year performance review still due, question 4 is a joke, celebrate what? At this point we won’t even get a pizza party, I’ve heard that’s popular from the higher ups.

Anyone else’s managers reach out seeking volunteers for tribute? “May the odds be ever in your favor”

Word is that 930 people are being cut. Many based on office closings with no regard for or probably knowledge of the talent they are losing. Who is steering this sinking ship? Man the lifeboats and save yourselves.

The unpopular opinion here…Regardless of how you personally feel about the leadership and EMT or layoffs, if the top ranking Human Resources exec says there is zero talent at an office, I would start looking for other jobs (outside of the company) asap. There is life outside of Crown and you’ll probably feel better working for a company that is overall different from Crown. Holding onto a company or job that doesn’t align with your expectations isn’t good for you or the company.

@LETSGETMOREPIZZA Clearly Jay Brown and the EMT know better than EVERYONE when it comes to office attendance. Made up surveys and statistics to try and push through the office return was pathetic. First they tell everyone how GREAT the company was doing during COVID with everyone working remote... and then a month later "GREAT NEWS we are heading back to the office!"..... They parroted the exact same non-sense that many companies did at the time.... "Better together"....... "Hybrid 3 days in office 2 remote"....... blah blah blah

I’m tired of leadership not taking responsibility for their actions. I know some things are out of their control, but I believe their hands are dirty with the actions that led us here. PURPLE is a joke when leadership has no integrity.

Morale never recovered from the last round of layoffs, and this is going to be worse

I'm curious what laying ppl off has to do with making people work at the office more..? Why make ppl more unhappy and not be able to attract talent moving fwd? Idk about you but I work better remote instead of a depressing office building. Makes no sense. If they truly want to save money etc. Close all the offices. Go fully remote. Save money and make the workers happy. Win win. But no....

Customers don't come to our offices because they don't like us (Crown). We try to bully them into giving us FROR and step on the GCs by taking 30% margin. What the d-mb folks leading this company don't realize is that the customer and GCs have local relationships and when Crown tries to insert themselves into those relationships things don't work. The inexperienced Construction Services team has ruined a lot about this company and have been laughed at continuously. You can't run projects from across the nation and expect to have lasting relationships. If the EMT truly wants "Better together" they will bring back the districts. Meanwhile we wait our turn to be told you no longer work here.

This is happening due to the poor judgement/decision making of Jay Brown and his team. Tower services was started with friends hiring friends that had no experience or any business being in Construction. The office situation is due to high cost offices in locations where no one can afford to live. We work better together is Jays motto, a load of horse cr-p. Everyone is in their own silos and customers never come to the office. During covid we had a great year and everyone was happy and successful being remote, but Jay Brown and his team just need to see everyone sitting at a desk even though you don’t work with anyone in the office, but EMT continued to spend money on offices and opening new ones when it’s been said a million times. We spend all this money for a leased building that no one visits. Times have changed and Jay and the old blood that is there need to be removed with open minded and good decision making individuals. They destroyed Crown!

Also can someone please explain to me finally how it is ok for LN to be on the EMT at Crown as well as being a partner in her own consulting firm? The EMT has expected a lot out of our ICs and lower level managers, especially during the DISH buildout. How is she putting 40+ hours in a week and fully engaged in Crown work with a side gig?

I hear its beautiful outside the purple walls. I even hear people have experience and know what they are doing. Wake up people they don't care about us. The rich get richer and we move on, we have worked hard enough for this poor example of leadership. The once great Crown is on life support and it will take a team of people that actually know what they are doing to revive it.

The whole purple thing is/was a joke. Who comes up with this trash??? How about leading by example and making smart business decisions. EMT can't even do that right so they need childish gimmicks? Wonder how much time/effort/financial investment was made to have a consultant come up with this phony, corporate culture bologna. I'll pass on the kool-aid thank you.

Been a problem since they put Levendos and Karen in charge. They canned legacy Crown leadership and the Lightower leadership took over and ran things into the ground. When Ben Moreland was the CEO, the message of B3s were practiced at every level. When the Fiber oursiders took over, they made punchlines out of the B3 and let their values corrupt the core of what made Crown Castle great. Jay isnt aware of what goes on in his own company.

Laura is not the problem. She is just the cover up. The issue is Jay, Chris, Karen and the VPs. We are doomed under this weak and ineffective team. Time for Jay and his circus clowns to leave before they completely destroy this company.

Laura is the architect of the train wreck. Jay is either negligent or complicit. The B3s=BS^3. Should've been out of services long ago, but they got investors addicted to the gross margin. Now is their chance to ditch it, consolidate their group think culture at the Houston mother ship where Laura can keep a closer eye on everybody who might think about Being Real, and they can conveniently blame a cyclical carrier slow down as the catalyst. Have we EVER delivered the node forecast? Can we even define a node consistently yet? How's that Digital Transformation coming?

Is it possible for us to layoff 15% of the EMT?

by

Post ID: @cjh+1nLGu1LD

IC's continue to pay for the EMT's mistakes. Disappointed but not surprised. This company has been on a steady decline for the last eight years - unfortunately instead of addressing issues in leadership, listening to people, and investing in the employees who made them millions, they treated us like cr-p while painting us purple. The cute tennis shoes won't save a culture and a new shiny building won't make business better. From my experience, a large part of this corruption can be traced back to LN. Bad leadership, bad echo chamber, bad move to push out all the truly valued voices at Crown.
