“Officer Titles”?

20th name change without a pay increase in 10 years. Thanks Bei Ling.😂

It’s actually pretty hilarious. We have 50+ employees in our team, including myself, with VP title. It’s super meaningless.

I honestly am beyond excited. I was hired at a VP level title but wasn't issued VP. They said "it used to be mandatory at this level, but now it's issued on an as need basis even though you're mid level management". But now this forces them to give me something so that people across the industry at other firms know I've attained a certain level of success. Big Four banks don't just hand these titles out to insignificant teammates like Vanguard and Fidelity do. Vanguard and Fidelity will call someone on the absolute bottom a "Managing Director". JPM, BOA, Wells, and Citi are different. You either performed to get the office title, or you were hired at a high level. Either way, I have wanted this since I got hired and am now getting it. Tip for Tony Cipollone! (Barbarians at the Gate movie reference)

@1kun+1oIzo9N3 If all you got was a 2% raise after Bei DID successfully lobby for 5% across the board you’re either already top of range or you weren’t all that exceeding.

Time for a little self reflection.

Looks like some skin saving politics. Maybe they want to prove that we only outsourced low-profile jobs and all high profile/title jobs are hired in USA?? otherwise, why suddenly waste of time, money and energy for this useless exercise. who knows? some gimmicks.

They can have my officer title. I don’t feel the need to put it in my signature since it is meaningless.

Titles are important to me. When I joined, I negotiated my title and now that I want to leave, that title is the main thing that will help me find a new job at the right level. I haven’t received any salary increases in the few years I’ve been here and the role I am in is nothing like the role I interviewed for.

Reading Bei’s email and the HR description, the link says that “most” employees will either keep their current officer title, move to a higher officer title, or receive an officer title for the first time. Most does not mean all and I am nervous until I am told what is happening to my title directly.

Our foreign national failed to mention a list of hard working VP and SVPs are about to get wiped out for a SR AVP title. The titles eerily align to the actual job title. What’s worse is that everyone gets a title. You get a car I get a car everyone gets a car in the words of Opera. Joke. All they needed to do was standardize it across the bank and maybe add one extra title.

5% raises? What part of Pluto do you work in I got the ole 2% and was a high performer. Bei Ling is worthless but then again so are most of the people running the ship into icebergs here on the USS WELLSTANIC

The fact that they spent money on worthless title research and looking at it downgrading them even lower than they are currently which is basically worthless is disgusting and stupid. Why not spend money on theings that matter - of wait I forget who is in charge.

First of all, the titles are meaningless so everyone needs to just chill.

Second, idk where you people are getting the idea that you are going to lose or downgrade your current title. There’s a page on the intranet that details it all and literally says the opposite of that. Either you will remain the same or get a better sounding one.

Still, it’s all pointless.

I feel for all of you that still have years ahead of you. We have let corporations take over every aspect of our lives. I hope that you continue to push back and make it better for all future generations. This title change is just another waste of resources. It is showing that current leadership has no clue what they are doing and need something to put on their accomplished list. As a shareholder, I just see this as a waste of money. As a bank customer, I see this as a waste of money.

I actually “earned” my officer title (got it for my responsibilities even tho I wasn’t promoted). Are they just going to take it away or lower my officer title?

Relax. You don't get to decide what I think is important or positive/negative. Don't care for it when the execs try to dictate such things, and the same applies when a plebe does it. You've got your opinion, good for you, but that's all it is. There's 248k people working here, some do care about corp titles. I see them in email signatures all the time. If you don't care, "ok" here's your cookie, but some have their own opinion on the subject.

@bwv - Yes. Analyst, Associate, VP, Exec Director, MD are the main JP levels. It made me wonder if WF management needed to account for their people in a way that leaders at other banks do. While it is an HR gap, maybe they are looking to sell off pieces or do a merger.

Honestly with the new change it makes it harder to step from VP title to SVP if you’re an IC and officer tittle matter to you.

It matter to me, I'm currently Senior Lead in the Corporate Risk, business side and sitting in VP. Been trying for SVP and was told there is an enterprise wide officer title change going on…..BS

Initial assumption was that this would be a downgrade to titles in another attempt to tank morale.

Then I read the part that most affected employees will either receive a higher title, or employees that previously didn’t have a title will be assigned one.

Now I think it is being done to offset the upcoming disappointment with compensation discussions, as it has been in the past.

I worked for Bank One before it was Chase. They eliminated Officer Titles over 15 years ago for everyone but customer facing where there was a need for an officer title for certain regulatory items. Don’t ask me what i worked in finance.

However, they got rid of them and for someone like me that worked in other industries i never understood it. Like someone else said. If Money isn’t attached to it i don’t care. Now can it add insult to injury by degrading the working poor rank and file professionals of course. I read Bei Lings email and i was in awe. I thought this probably cost 10,000 dollars in labor hours between communication and reviews and approvals before issuing a nonsensical statement.

I would have more respect for the leadership if they can cut the cr-p with we have made great strides over the last two years and invested in our employees WHAT WHAT then i delete the email and move on. This com’s are the most disingenuous insults they can dish out. People are not stupid. She can add all the word salad she wants and it is still a bunch of wilted lettuce

Same old story. Work your way up just be dragged back down. Officer titles didn’t mean anything for a long time then they were brought back up on our profiles I believe this year. Will be interesting to see if this falls in line with other banks or if they essentially take us a level lower, which would impair our ability to get jobs elsewhere. Place has gotten so weird.

I never ever thought I’d say this, but I’ve never been so close to jumping on the “WF union” band wagon. Yep - I know that would bring on a whole new set of employee issues and flattening of jobs etc but I’m also so pi$$ed at WF at this point that I want to drag WF down to level that they have beaten me down to.

Enough is enough!

Of course they are separate. That doesn’t change the fact that when your company is DROWNING, everyone shifts gears into meaningful contributions to save the company. This initiative does nothing to make money or help WF issues - NOTHING.
