Ford cannot force the employees to RTO. Yes, the company can push for it and make it mandatory, even conditional with employment. However, it is up to the employees if they go back or not.
Since I do want to leave this company, I already told my manager that I am not coming back to the office. So my manager has 2 options now:
-
- Let me go, which allows for 20 weeks of unemployment (better than nothing).
-
- Deal with my temporary physical absence until it is permanent when I find a better job elsewhere.
Since most of us are going to be laid off anyway, with the company losing money and the chances of keeping a NA job are very small... why would I want to spend money/time/gas going into the office? I already have a big rainy fund and I am not afraid to lose my job.
I am tired of seeing people let go, while their technical responsibilities keep piling on me, with no salary raise. Maybe not having this job will be the best I can have now, since I'll actually have some time to upgrade my skills and look for something better.
