Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Theories about why the company is silent on SVP arrest?

It’s standard practice at most companies to fire employees immediately for any conduct related to criminal activity, regardless of whether it occurred during working hours.

To date, there has been no indication of any disciplinary action towards the SVP who was arrested on felony charges last week. Anybody have a good theory as to why? I personally think the company is looking for a way to get rid of him without paying out severance or being sued by him.

The longer they stay quiet, the greater the risk that they lose control of the narrative.

XOM will stay silent to avoid defamation of character lawsuits. You should do the same.

Believe he heard the words:
You are fired.

Is he an officer of the corporation? Heard it can be difficult to fire officers.

@yei Yet they fire people routinely for “values violations” and other nebulous BS.

Sorry, but your explanation doesn’t wash.

It's an arrest... Company wouldn't want to do anything prematurely which deemed prejudice.

Any statement would restart the news cycle.

Yes, this is all another white guy conspiracy. It would be inconceivable that the SVP acted independently. He was likely forced down this trail to cover up something even more disturbing.

It has being forever like this; the same situation when there is a fatal accident in Permian. It is not good for business. The most disgusting part of this kind of situation; the media is taking part on EM side. The media try to descale or not to mention like this kind of news needs to be expose. Money talks!

Severence is the least of their worries. They're probably more worried about him spilling the beans on other high ups or other info that makes exxon look bad.
