Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T HR Chief Is Leaving as Company Cuts Thousands of Jobs

Here is a blast from the very recent past, it’s informative for those who want a news report and not an anonymous post. Skeptical of both these days, too much opinion and not enough factual reporting in the news. Santone left at the end of September, short run at the top HR position.

If a chatbot can replace RCMAC with 75% effectiveness. Imagine what real trained AI could do with HR.

“ HR, or Human Resources, is one of the most important organizations in the company.”

AI will replace it first. Has anyone ever been helped by HR? Most employees just have to look up the information on their own. And even when HR tries to help it’s left to the employee to do all the work.

HR regurgitates the policies that we can find on our own and then asks the employee to do all the leg work to resolve the issue. HR is not know for doing anything other than taking up time and being in the way.

Every question you could ask HR can or, will be soon be answered by ChatGPT. HR has canned responses to comply with legal. Perfect environment for AI to replace them all.
It would certainly reduce the time needed to interact with HR. WIn, WIn and a cost savings.

AI or India. The number of indian recruiters have skyrocketed while I see my american comrades getting laid off. It's kind of like hearing about people losing their jobs at record rates while the c-suites and companies are making record profit. zero sum game.

"Heard she and Stankey had disagreements..."

She probably wanted to lay off even more people... She was more evil than even the Stink and that's saying a lot.

HR, or Human Resources, is one of the most important organizations in the company. If done well. I repeat, if done well. When a successful leader is asked how they succeeded, they say. I just surrounded myself with brilliant people. When JTS is asked why the stock is $14, he says it’s because America is not smart. The question he should ask is why his HR is not surrounding him with brilliant people. Why don’t we bring in a new HR with one focus… getting brilliant people.

AT&T is no longer the employer of choice. Stankey thinks AT&T can run on new hires every year.

“ Things are fine, if the employee is working in the cellular business. Even if AT&T went bankrupt, that business would continue, and so, would need the employees to operate. AT&T put the roadmap out, and it consists of the winding down of the copper businesses.”
This comment has to be satire…..

“ Things are fine”

Wins the most ignorant statement of 2023.

Many employees, like passengers are still singing at the piano thinking everything is fine

ESG, ERG and DEI are still the discriminatory flavors of the day now that Affirmative action is off the table. Need to get rid of them too, in business and institutions. Merit, certification and competence is the proven business model, all else just causes division, there are civil rights laws to handle the rest.

HR has no valid purpose other than promoting DEI or justifying their chosen discrimination flavor of the day. Hopefully this country wakes up and anyone that has been schooled in the dark art of HR finds it nearly impossible to stay employed over the next 3 decades.

Heard she and Stankey had disagreements, we see who won that argument. McElfresh was neutered for his pushback on Stankey’s analysis of cutting his way to success. John only wants to hear, Yes Sir! he is the only genius in his world, everyone else is just sycophants. What a leader?? Not smart enough to listen to his team but what does one expect from the one who put T into 143 billion in debt.

T has all the makings of the Titanic. Many employees, like passengers are still singing at the piano thinking everything is fine because they get a paycheck. There are two types of employees, those that understand that the half life of T is nearly up and plan for their next career. Then there are those that still wear their T golf shirt to work and deny the most obvious signs of a very sick and failing company. Don’t get caught unprepared when you are tapped to leave because you’ve chosen to ignore the obvious, your family deserves better.
