Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Here’s how it goes

Them: You have to come back to the office 3 days a week, no matter how long your commute is.

Us: We’re unhappy!

Them: We are now going to track how long you’re in the office because we need to micromanage.

Us: We’re unhappy!!

Them (EASE): 1 of your 3 days will now be Wednesday and that’s mandatory!

Us: We’re unhappy!!!

What’s next?

RTO is not such a big deal but if you want people in the pffice why play musical chairs everyday? Offices are gross, hairs on desk, food crumbs, it is just unsanitary as cleaning crew comes once a week if that. Just give people a full time desk/office to sit in since there are more than enough and the sloppy can sit in their own unsanitary conditions.

As ‘management’, I question this. I’ve always been told not to log anything under 4 hour increments.

Micromanage? Does that mean I actually have to work now? Yeah, unhappy.

“I been logging 1 hour of PTO per day to fake out the reports. I know it’s a waste of PTO, but it fakes out the reports. I don’t have much work anyway. Just collecting a check and playing PS5.”
This is genius holy sh-t.

Add caregiver hours (up to 120) and an hour a week for sick time.. 😃

Dum Dum post of the year - “it’s a free world “.
Oh really????
Is your mortgage “free”?
Is your car loan “free “?
Is your children’s medical insurance free?

Everything listed here is your personal family responsibility. How is this the companies responsibility. Here is a Nobel concept ...save for a rainy day went the economy isnt so green. You have to be smart enough to have a backup plan for your family. Come on man you must know this you can't be this d-mb!

The conditions for your job changed. If not acceptable, leave. This isn’t complicated.

Im going out on a limb here but hear me out. The company has changed policy and now wants you back in the office. It's a free world and you have a choice if you want to stay and adhere or leave the company all together

My prep civic office WAS MY HOME. For 15 years!!! Now I get to travel 160 miles round trip to sit in a stock exchange environment. And don't say I can move closer because refuse to yank my kids out of their schools and friends they've had all their lives and cannot afford a house closed to Dallas

Im going out on a limb here but hear me out. The company has changed policy and now wants you back in the office. It's a free world and you have a choice if you want to stay and adhere or leave the company all together. Basically what I am saying is they are paying you a salary to do it their way not yours. If you re truly that miserable with the changes it might be time to change where you work. Go after something that motivates you and makes you want to get out of bed every morning. Change is hard but once you get on the other side of it you might realize it is the best thing that has ever happened. Life is truly short why spend it doing something you know will not change and is truly making you unhappy. I write this not to poke at people but maybe to offer a different perspective.

“ I work out in the field on the Mobility side. Quit your complaining. You get to sit on your a$$ at HOME to days every week.”

Wow thank you for this masterful non sequitur. Clearly you didn’t make the debate team.

Newsflash, everyone that works at a desk sits on their A$$ all day. It’s literally part of the job.

I’m simply pointing out poor business decisions and that it is a problem. It’s a problem for productivity , morale and efficiency to have people come to an office and have to leave because there aren’t enough available desks. If that’s too tough of a concept for you to grasp, maybe you should pipe down and let the adults talk.

“ Outside of Dallas and Atlanta there is no way in he11 someone can't find a desk in these buildings. The occupancy levels are insanely low.”

I see. So you are; from your one office, the all knowing all seeing eye of the situation in all offices? I see people walk in to my office only to find all the desks taken and leave every day. EVERY. DAY.

“ Commuting to an office is only a problem if your job is being relocated to Dallas. It’s not a problem if they want you to commute to your pre-covid office.”

It’s a problem if there are only ten “drop in” desks now for 30 people. So you drive to the office, badge in, find all desks taken, turn around and leave. If you don’t think that’s a problem, you are a F00L.

I have never understood people who will not just leave a job they hate instead of incessantly whining and complaining about it.
