Thread regarding IBM layoffs

IBM is no longer a front page story

In fact, in many venues it is no longer any kind of story, for the story has already been told over many years. People in the know are running away from the company, be they rank-and-file employees, executives, or customers. They aren't d-mb, and they aren't ignorant. Like a failing restaurant, the furniture and cooking gear have been sold off for cash, and the staff is looting the safe and cash registers every night for spare change. Expenses have been cut to the bone, and the overpaid restaurant consultants have been brought in to try to save the joint. They've tried updating the menu, they've tried updating the decor, and they've tried changing the restaurant theme from fine dining to fast casual. It didn't work. They couldn't even get take-out pizza and take-out Chinese to work, and running a food truck is too far beneath the overpriced executives.

Stick a fork in it...IBM is finished. Short the stock if you still have any.

Well said, @gbl+1rnBZExU.

I read far more about Google and Meta's failures these days than IBM's.

Ginni sold off most of the real estate (and leased it back so that it isn't obvious), IBM Finance did well untill it collapsed. IBM Z makes money and will keep on doing so, in all other fields IBM is years behind and not even considered (Cloud, AI, ..).

Wait! Wait! They still haven't tried rearranging the chairs like they do in a failing restaurant. Big Blew should try moving the financial guys into programming and engineering positions, and the technical people into financial jobs. That might work...

Hi! Ex-ibm’er here, cut in 2020 by a manager who was totally insecure. I digress. IBM seriously isn’t even part of the convo anymore, and hasn’t been for a couple years. If they do come up, I actively steer partners and prospects away from IBM. Love it, reap what you sow which was mistrust, deception, lying, denied advancement, pick up the pieces after RA’s, etc.,

This is what happens when spreadsheet trolls run the place. There are no business people making NG any decisions that it's all financial manipulation

It's only a matter of time before the rank-and-file employees find out the HARD way that they are no longer employed (when the direct deposits no longer appear in their bank accounts). This is exactly how failing restaurants work, and for the same reason. (You get a couple weeks extra work out of the labor without having to pay them.)

and also like a failing restaurant, IBM "cooks the books" with financial games that are the subject of government investigation

Don't you think you guys exaggerate a bit? Sure, IBM is certainly not what it once was, but it still out there and making tons of money.
