D9 - working without a contract

I’m feeling sick, how many days can I take off, paid? Work to rule, be ready for mobilization at any moment.

Please, Please Strike, I want some extra time off after working here 26 years, mental health break, would be nice. Saved up for some months off and with unemployment, relief pay could go out for a long, long time.

Some of these know it all, company trolls are about as sharp as a rat tu-d, pointed on both ends.

Can’t wait, ULP Is almost here. Get those few days over and if company won’t bargain fairly then we get a much longer vacation. Alaska will be nice when it’s over 90 and smoggy here.

Might even get the the guy who loves saying “union slug” so much, to crawl up from mommies basement and do some CP work. Don’t worry it won’t last long and you will get your 2 weeks and a goodbye letter to hit the road to find other employment.

This is the period of high anxiety. Give it a few more weeks or maybe a month or two and the union will report on the hard work in the negotiations that resulted in a $500 signing bonus and 4% raise year 1 then a 3.5% raise year 2 and 3. Best we could do fellow union member sheep. Vote yes so we can breath again .

Never strike? so the 2019 - SE district 3 , ULP strike was a figment of our imaginations, it would have been a full-strike if the company hadn’t flew in a new labor team and settled quickly.

Don’t let facts stand in the way of your narrative, you will make an excellent news reporter or anchor. Fit right in with today’s Svengali types who spin everything to influence others.

All regional contracts for the last two years, of any consequence have seen a 14% raise over a 4 yr contract along with a COLA clause added, that is capped at 5% total @ yr. Medical has basically stayed the same rate of 29% cost to the employee, the issue is watching that the deductibles and out of pocket cost don’t continue to go up.

Post ID: @1yyv+1s1WBXon

With the company still drowning in debt, I find it unlikely any of the regional contracts are going to see any significant raises and, if they can get away with it, they're going to offload more of the healthcare cost onto the employees.

The problem with the Union is that it simply doesn't care how much Medical goes up for its members because it's not money coming out of their pocket. The Union will always fight for a raise because it's self serving. Since dues are a percentage of base pay, any raise for the membership equates to a raise for the Union. Hence, the reason they fight tooth and nail for it ( and headcount ).

Everything else comes out of our pocket so it's not really on their priority list. ( If they care at all )

History tends to repeat for those uninformed. It’s a shame that Labor History and how collective bargaining came about, isn’t taught in schools. It has improved all employees working conditions and yes there has been corruption along the way, it’s needs regulation and laws just like all businesses, they need to stay out of politics that doesn’t directly affect working conditions or labor law. There are many examples of corruption in non bargained workplaces too. So for all those against Unions need to look at the working conditions and benefits prior to Unions.

As the post states, you got a bonus most were $15,000-$20,000 and up also, you received a raise based on your management’s assessment. Some on this site have posted raises up to 4%, if yours was lower then you need to take it up with your manager, it’s not the union’s fault. The post wasn’t to bash office workers but to show the company was successful enough to offer management extra so, bargained wants their fair share too.

Bargained usually doesn’t get a bonus since it’s tied to the falling stock price and raises haven’t kept up with inflation for a long time.

I see Poindexter the self appointed company troll, is at it again with all his adjectives of Union Slugs, gutless, goofs, lazy, joke, dummies, etc... Your vitriol is aimed at hard working employees trying to support themselves and their families while bargaining for improvements in their working conditions, benefits and wages. I’m sure you make Stankey and your parents proud! Most of your descriptions fits a few and it’s a human condition that affects all levels of rank and file, from the BOD to the entry level.

Here are several reasons to thank the Union, it has benefited all employees and US workers. Now the Union is fighting companies for de-risking their pension liabilities but are putting the employee at more risk. That benefits management and bargained if they win, as nearly all the wins listed below.

Paid Vacation
Holiday Pay
Raises
FMLA
Paid Sick Leave
Workers Comp
Social Security
8 hour workday
Weekends
Breaks
Overtime Pay
Minimum Wage
Health Care
Dental
Vision
Military Leave
OSHA
Child Labor Laws
Collective Bargaining
Wrongful Termination
Equal Pay Act
American Disabilities Act
Age Discrimination
S-xual Harassment
Civil Rights

“ All managers that were in card swiping compliance received nice bonuses along with a wage increase.”
Uh, no. I got 1.87% with an exceeds rating, the same bonus as everyone else. Oh and our healthcare is expensive, has a very high deductible and is almost worthless. I also don’t get overtime, have to work nights/weekends with no comp time. Yeah, you guys have the golden tickets, idk why you bash office workers so much. Believe me our lives su-k.

The union won’t strike because they have absolutely no idea what they are doing. Union strike vote counts are clearly manipulated, as any show of additional weakness further erodes the outcome. Any new agreement however will be wrought with negative impacts to pay increases, healthcare costs, and job preservation. The union is being tossed around like a rag doll already. The company couldn’t care less about a strike, whether it’s 3 days or 3 months.

AT&T likes strikes. They save a lot of money and get to blame the poor service on the union. The union is basically trying to negotiate with an entity that does not care. Just keep the strike under 30 days so you don’t have a lapse in healthcare.

Why does it matter to you? If the Union strikes, they go out on strike.
Are you scared about something?
If you are scared, just say you're scared. No need to obfuscate. Just say what worries you. There is no shame in that.
