Thread regarding Ford layoffs

What has management been doing since the large layoffs of 2018-19?

Here in Detroit, there's been much news about the $ 1 billion that Ford spent on repairs for the old train station. That money could have been used to fund at least 2 new vehicle programs. But the work done is beautiful and should help the city. Let's hope for the best. At least it is something visible.

But more importantly, since Ford pushed out thousands of people in 2018 and 2019, they used the excuse of reinventing the company and creating new products, especially EVs.

So as I look around, and besides the F150EV and the Mustang EV, both developed (but not released) prior to 2019, I don't see anything "new" or exciting. Ok, the Bronco is back too. Where are all these new things after 5 years? What are people working on? The stock is at $12. Same price going back to 2011. I'll bet much energy has been spent on multiple reorganizations, each designed to be the next best thing. When will investors wake up to these lies? Nothing has changed.

All while GM is spending 1 billion on a revised v8 and I4. One of the biggest mistakes Ford made in the last 30 years was going to OHC in the trucks. Pushrods are smaller and more cost effective and less parts means better quality opportunities.

Some one made a comment about ICE engineering. All that is left is a shell. Cut 3/4 of the heads when decision was made to go all in on EVs. Almost all TS’s were broomed.

Yeah, I remember when Lincoln changed its product names and simply went MKX, MKZ, MKC, MKT etc… not a far cry from others such as BMW 3, 5, 7 series etc.
Then all of the moaning and whining that went on.
😩”They sound too similar…” 😩”No one will know which is which…”😩”Too confusing…”.

Do not buy a Ford. Instead buy GM. Stellantis. Foreign. Even Tesla or Rivian.

Hit them where it hurts.

@1eal With all the nonsense going on around here, and thats what you complain about? Product names are way way down the list of problems plaguing us. I bet youre one of those people who complain about the number of grains of salt in a packet or that the weather forecast was off by 2 degrees.

@1eal, really? If we came up with new names, you would complain about how much we spend on marketing a new name when we could have leveraged the goodwill in our classic trademarks to sell 1000’s of more vehicles. This is why id--ts on anonymous websites don’t run businesses.

We can't even come up with new names. We have to reuse the old ones like Mustang, Bronco, and Maverick. I'm waiting for Taurus to make a comeback. Maybe some of the newcomers will recommend Pinto.

The Lightning and Bronco aren't exciting ... and neither is the Explorer EV for that matter. Anyone can put an electric powertrain in a vehicle. Changing the powertrain doesn't do much for most consumers. Heck, my vacuum cleaner is more exciting and innovative with it's own self-propelled powertrain. No vision = no innovation. Regurgitated old products don't usually have long legs, and they demonstrate a real lack of creativity and vision.

Ford also pushed out thousands more employees in 2020 to pave the way for EV's. How did all that turn out, now that they're bringing back hybrids? Are there any ICE engineers still there?

Eliminating a lot of very competent employees. Quality can't be assured without qualified people. But if those who hired in the last years weren't qualified, what should be expected?
Keep fighting the competent people who threaten personal future at the company to keep one's job. That's the mentality of Ford management and this happening at every single level. You want quality, we are served!!!!
