Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

How to deal with Wells Fargo managers that don’t manage

Because many of them … can’t … or won’t? (Either) from one who has done it successfully elsewhere.

  1. They want to micromanage or tear your drafts apart for no real reason? Ask them three questions for every one of theirs and then ask for a meeting to discuss the answers.
  1. When they tell you to do something, don’t bother figuring it out yourself. It’s their job to get you the tools and resources you need. Keep telling them you’re stuck and don’t do any more work until they offer a solution.
  1. Don’t work more than 40 hours. If they can’t get back to you timely or are putting their own deadlines at jeopardy by their indecision or procrastination … well, you’ll get it done when you can.
  1. Play bingo. Every large call has a lot of managers who always say the same ridiculous things. See how many squares you can fill.
  1. The only cure for employee attrition and morale is knowing you have fair managers who have your back. Knowing this is unlikely here, try not to invest overmuch into getting them to like you. Stay neutral and firm and protect your boundaries.
  1. If you’re an unfortunate soul who gets screamed at on a call for being a messenger, just shrug and nod sympathetically so that fathead doesn’t have a cardiac arrest and then go home and laugh at them

All of them are really to be pitied, but they are too clueless to know it. People with real skills will always be in demand; WF managers … not so much

Most of these "managers" are JP Morgan rejects at best. They are not experienced and only face upwards. Any Business school Grad knows - it is the people under you that make you look stellar.
This JP Morgan Chase group is sad pathetic and destroying the once great Wells Fargo.

Treat them the same way that you’d treat any other manager: ignore them.

You lost me when you said your manager took the time to review your work and provide written feedback as a bad thing. Regardless of the quality of the feedback, that is literally better than 2/3 of managers here.

Yeah, well, when managers do manage and they start writing people up, holding them accountable, and giving them cr-p ratings and increases, suddenly no one wants them to do any actual managing anymore.

Six steps to getting your can fired. Then no severance for you. The Indians have perfected the art of not working while looking good in the eyes of upper management. Be like the indians

Nothing happens here to workers who don’t work. The good ones work around them on the way out the door because their managers don’t manage

once I figure out what to do with workers that don't work, I'll let you know.

HR is absent and doesn’t have the first clue in designing an objective framework in managing employee and management’s performance. These bureaucrats should have been replaced or offshored decades ago given their mandate.
