Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Offshore employee question

I was aggravated and lost patience dealing with a couple of our offshore employees. It can sometimes take hours to get a response from them. A US based coworker said they all work from home. I thought she was just taunting me because I was frustrated, but she said she had gone to our manager in May and he told her that he was not permitted to talk about it, and his hands were tied by our L5.

Are their designations different from US based employees? Most of them do work during their night time, but a few work during their daytime business hours.

I have many offshore employees in my group who are AT&T employees and they follow the same 3 day's in the office that we do here in the US.

I have worked with off shore resources for many years in India. Some are very good and some are challenged. They agree to everything but rarely deliver anything on-time per schedule without multiple levels of escalation. I find the off-shore resources in Slovakia have a better work ethic and are more professional. The biggest issue is the time differences as they are off-line generally by noon EST and since we have resources all over it is hard to collectively have a call with the majority since we have to set-up calls before noon EST which is difficult when other employees are in Seattle, Calif, Dallas and also in Atlanta. I agree with the author as we rarely get a response same day from off-shore resources in India (sometimes they do not even respond) which is difficult and stressful when dealing with Customer issues.

Are you serious to raise the issue here and to expect a solution? Maybe all of them know what a mr0n you are and they do not want waste a time to reply you.

Some work from home, some work in a company building.

When your job gets moved over there, you can work from home too.

Yes most contractors on or off shore work from home. They are not at&t employees and unless it's in the contract they can't, nothing we can do about it.

The solution is for you to move your shift to line up with the time they are working.

It’s only going to get worse with how clown suite is running the company.

Appears the pajeets get to work from home or inside the zoo. Either way it’s a different destination than on-shore that have to relocate or RTO. Don’t blame them, just the “leadership”.

Not entitled, Americans believe in fair play so, if the reverse were true we would also think it was wrong.

I work with offshore also. They show up as online in Teams but not responding for hours to my questions. Then they have an excuse that internet was down. It is happening very often. So why they are allowed to work from home?

"I hear kids and animals in the background..."

I've observed this too but never made the effort to ID the audio source.

Yes. All of the employees we have in India in our organization have a designation of "FOW". Future Office Worker. Which means they are working from home. . . . . Gotta love how Americans need to be forced into an office in order to 'collaborate' but not foreign-based employees.

If you see a C-suite manager's lips moving, they are lying. This whole RTO policy proves that point.

I hear kids and animals in the background when I’m on calls with several of them. Guess their company designation and collaboration has a different meaning than ours.
