Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Where is HR to save the LDP and HIPO upcoming leaders?

It continues to amaze me that really good people get caught in the wrong role and teams out of their control and that are let go without HR inventorying the quality and capability of these employees that could be placed elsewhere to make a solid impact with little to no cost of onboarding and training.

There are some really good L2 mgmt in the company. Those that the company has invested in and vice versa now turned into a number on a spreadsheet.

It wasn’t long ago when people were the “number one asset”. And now no talent is safe and talent is being managed worse than their products and operations.

LDP is no more. Couldn’t retain the talent so it was shut down. The new push is identifying the HIPOs from those left standing in Dallas or Atlanta. And there are bootlickers gleefully awaiting their turn in the spotlight created by the great employees ki-led off by RTO. HR thinks that’s enough talent to fill the small number of leadership positions that will remain in their new “flat” orgs. HR can’t spot good leaders. That’s why they’re currently trying to teach the bootlickers to build EQ.

LDP....based on who you know to get into that program. If your mentor can't save you, time to go.

Where have you people been for the last 25+ years in corporate America? Today’s HR organizations are the slave masters (they hire) and executioners!!!!!!

Trust me when I say. The good ones are saved. Given a heads up before the cuts happened.

The good level 2s with connections are fine.

Sometimes the moves are to rid the company of another employee with a slightly lower A&D. The misplaced employee (was me) should look for a move back to their area of expertise. If not, the new department will transfer (me) to a different position to get qualified help and to motivate (me) bounced around employee to start looking.

It worked, I survived ten years now.

The C level is using a strategy called ‘Diffusion Of Responsibility’. Investigate and see if it sounds familiar.

This is corporate genocide. But what can you expect from C-suite. Did they ever made a smart decision that benefited T?

Remember when T gave TMUS $4 billions? Now they are giving the competitors its talent for free. Great strategy!!!!

Leadership only cares about themselves, prioritizing short-term goals and quarterly profits over long-term investments in innovation, employee development, and creating a positive company culture. Randal & Stankey have dismantled what was once an iconic American company.

Blame your execs - HR is getting demolished by layoffs just like the rest of the company. No one left to blame but Lori Lee and Stankey leg himself

Att’s chain of progress is broken. Executive leadership is looking out for itself, not shareholders. New leadership keeps the chain of progress infused. The constant layoff model destroys that supply chain. HR hasn’t looked out for anyone but its keepers, in 20 years. No parity exists here anymore and throwing out years of investments in coaching for a made up culture philosophy means that executives don’t believe that they coached this company correctly. It’s an indictment on themselves which is the most bizarre aspect about this. Our leaders don’t trust the path that they themselves laid.

In fact, there is a very strong young leadership chain and they are all going to Att’s competitors with loads of experience that was built up at shareholders expense and no return value will be possible after 7/9. You cant calculate what kind of damage there will be to company value. Stankey won’t worry about it then, he will be cashed out.
