List is long but 1000% worth the read and forward planning:
• Email yourself all personal documents, which could be all your courses
completed, resumes, project notes/ ideas.
Productivity scores of yourself. Stuff that you know would be handy and helpful in your next role or job search.
• Review your profile in GSS to make sure your mailings address is accurate
• Save and email your last 3 pay stubs from
GSS to personal email
• Any important work colleagues contact information that would be helpful in the future
• On your last day, submit your hours for your GSS timecard and then send the snip shot to your personal email as well so they don't play games.
•If this layoff/severance comes after a major medical need of FMLA or Disability Leave, consult an attorney, since targeting is real here
•Use ALL PTO hours if your state is not required to payout PTO upon Layoff/severance (google search)
Additional below:
- ) if you are in a Rewards for Health type program, complete anything you can to get $ or prizes
- ) get all routine dental, medical, eye checkups done while you still have insurance. If you go somewhere else, all your deductibles will start again.
- ) use up PTO down to 40 hrs. If you are laid off, you can only cash out on 40. If you leave the company voluntarily, you don't get paid out on ANY unused PTO.
- ) take as many of the free CEs available through the company as you can. They're are some programs that might still work for a little while after you leave so make sure you hold on to the login info.
- ) Sign up for any conferences, additional training, additional licenses you can while you can still get Optum to pay for it.
- ) Use EAP to maximum allowances
- ) Turn in all receipts to concur that you need reimbursed on.
- ) if your supervisor is good and is leaving, see if s/he will write you an awesome evaluation before they go so that is your most recent one.
Lastly, take the time needed to decompress and heal from this sheet hole. I wish you the best and if you’re a manipulating abusive manager/HR Specialist, well…. You can get bent ⤵️
