Are there benefits to coming in as an internal employee vs external

I am in my 60 day notice and can still apply to jobs as an internal candidate. However I would not be eligible for a salary increase and have to work as opposed to getting paid to do nothing for 60 days. If I wait until my 60 days is over I can come back as an external candidate and ask for whatever salary I want (if you come back within 6 months you get your benefits continued).

Are there any benefits to coming back during your 60 day (as an internal employee)? Sounds like it’s better to come back as an external candidate. Make it make sense!

Hiring mgrs and HR consider external candidates less than internal (except if applying for director or above where they don’t want to promote any of us). So less chance of getting in. That, plus they will know how much you made and cap offer at your old salary; they aren’t stupid.

Something to consider is your years of services. I believe within 60 days of letting go and coming back ..you can keep your years of service so you will have more pto.

As far as I know it doesn't matter what LOB, but there are always special people who, for various reasons, aren't subject to the rules. The only exception is in situations where your current pay is below the minimum for the pay range. Naturally, in a lot of jobs the pay range is so ridiculously wide that most of us can look forward to no pay increase if promoted.

Is the no-raise-on-promotion policy even when you change LOB? Easily discoverable in TeamWorks? I guess you’d at least get a higher target bonus %?

Stockholm syndrome. You have been a victim -- This bank's executives have kidnaped you. You have been forced to work in the environment of the most "psychologically unsafe bank". Upon being laid-off you developed positive feelings or even empathy towards your previous captors. It's a complex reaction that can occur under extreme circumstances, often involving isolation, fear, and dependence on the captor.
LET GO and LIVE.

Yeah, the new "you don't get a raise with a promotion" policy is a massive slap in the face to all internal applicants. All that lip service about how they give an S about our career development is obviously a complete pack of lies. They want us all gone, and that policy is exhibit A.

Anyone else feeling "appreciated" about now? FHY. They need to fire every single person in that building. From the mailroom guy to the CEO. All of them.

There is a new policy this year that even with a promotion you are not eligible for raise. HR has been telling people this.

What happens to your severance if you re-join say at day 70? Different answer if you lump sum your severance (cons to lump summing though)?

It’s hard to believe your salary must be frozen if you land a job during notice. I mean what if (somehow) you are uniquely qualified for a two-level-up job?

This is all mostly philosophical.

Laid off and ZERO interest interest in going back. Finally free to work for a company I admire.

Why would you want to go back? You have been set free, go now.

After the notice period I believe you'd be eligible for an increase with a new gig, but you don't want to be out 6mo or more because then you lose your YoS.

Wouldn’t you be considered an internal employee when you apply though and you wouldn’t be eligible for increase?

I’m in the same boat… zero interest in going back.

The hiring process can be slow. It will likely take at least 30 days - so start applying at 30 days.

Why would you return to this org?
I would try elsewhere and only consider this org if all else fails
