AT&T is eliminating union jobs. In 2025 all new hires with our position codes won’t be allowed to join. The union will still be around until the last union worker retires.

I believe they care more about their longtime members than the actual positions and/or the newer employees. You can tell by the tiered bargaining to get more for those who have the old pension that's not available to younger ones, and the fact that it was okay for new employees to pay more for healthcare if they were hired after the contract date but still within the existing contract. "You can have some, but we deserve a better piece."
