"I hadn't seen a union rep at my yard in at least a year.”
You are part of the union, try going to a monthly union meeting. Plenty of reps there or volunteer to be a job steward. This isn’t Friday night Smackdown, these are legal negotiations, there is enough drama without going live. Been through this process many contracts, we will have a TA soon. The company is trying out the younger members to see if they will stay in unity and hold the line. Stay strong!
All one has to look at is the Billions in net profits, the raises and compensation for the officers. CEO Stankey alone had a $3,000,000 raise last year which is an approximately 13.04%. Cry me a river AT&T!"
Funny thing, im always told I needed to "go to a meeting", but other that a meal that's been paid for by my dues, why do i need to go to a meeting? How do you know that I don't go to meetings?Another thing ive been hearing, is that "I've been through these things a bunch of times and we'll have an agreement soon". Funny thing is that prior to 2019, there hadn't been a strike since 1983. So please tell me how many strikes you've been through with AT&T over negotiations? All I'm saying is that there needs to be more transparency within the cwa. We got some bigger updates recently, but that was due to people starting to call out the union on their updates. The phone was was just a regurgitation of the updates, and the question and answer segment was just as horrible. The answers were minimal at best. If you want more continued solidarity, maybe give the members more than crumbs for updates.
