keep a box handy . . . It'll be easier to carry your personal property home as you're walked out'

What are you talking about?? We are living like transients in the game of merry go round finding a new office seat everyday so what actually is there to pack? It is the new way of life at T to frustrate all with hoteling as no one has a permanent office and they like it that way.

Let me clarify something.

There are some of us who have been instructed to report to the office 5 days a week.

Yet others are only asked to report 3 days a week

Then there are those who only have to report once a month.

There are also some of us who have been advised we need to be in an office min of 4 hrs a day.

Recently, some of us were advised that we now have to report a min of 8 hrs a day.

Some of us have been told we must report to a particular office, and some of us can report to multiple office.

The point is, you’ve been advised. These instructions were given to you. It’s not some game of gotcha.

I don’t understand why those who have been advised have not come here to set the record straight. Maybe they’re scared to post anonymously? Maybe they don’t know how to hide their IP like a big boy? Who knows.

What I do know is that at this point, depending on who you report up to, we are all being monitored differently. Comparing is no longer useful, unless you’re just worried about what could happen to you next?

VPN usage has been tracked for years. However, as it relates to RTO, the company does not care about VPN usage between roughly 8pm and 6am. That is not considered your office hours. They are probably still monitoring content to make sure nothing prohibited is being done on the network, but they do not care how many hours you put in after general business hours.

'keep a box handy . . . It'll be easier to carry your personal property home as you're walked out'

Don't bother -- they won't let you pack your own stuff. They will walk you out and tell you when to come back to pick up the box they packed.

"Q" LOL! Tell us you've been gone for a while without telling us you've been gone for a while.

BTW... anyone who doesn't understand EVERYTHING done on the corporate network is logged, tracked, and tallied is too stupid to work for a communications company in the first place. The company has been telling us that it is for at least 20 years, and you're told again every time you log on. Most corporations of any size do the same.

So, if you're shopping, looking for a date, updating your socials, checking out nudes online... keep a box handy, as you'll probably need it sooner rather than later. It'll be easier to carry your personal property home as you're walked out.

"No idea of how long or when this ongoing collaboration started but even with the multitude of extremely stupid decisions we have seen the past few years, someone should have identified these exceptions and made allowances for them."

Under the latest rules, office presence rules are up to the org for some titles with "Market Based" designations and they aren't subject to presence reporting in general.

In my technical org, certain designations no longer even show up on the presence report.

If this new technology is as good and fast as they claim you might only get to jiggle your mouse once before a report is sent out.

So all the exempt salaried folks who have 7x24 duties, who log on from home all night and weekends are going to look like heroes?

Are there 3 different types of connection (generally)?
LAN - Hardwired network connection to AT&T within an AT&T property;
WiFi - Wireless network connection to an AT&T gateway that sits on AT&T property;
VPN - Connection (hardwired or wifi at the user source) to the AT&T network from a non-AT&T property

"Glad I don’t report to the A hole who thought this was a good idea."

Ask yourself how your manager will answer these two questions. A)Did you cover your employees on the RTO policy? B)Did you give them the ok to work less days in office?

Big storm coming your way.

They dont have to check your LAN time, when in the office the VPN still connects but in "Internal Connection Mode" so all of the data can be pulled from one platform and there is a Power BI report that auto sends people who are not compliant to there manager.

It would su-k to have to work under these conditions.

Glad I don’t report to the A hole who thought this was a good idea.

Everyone should start taking half days just to make them do extra work in tracking everyone vs their vacation time.

Bet HR and Legal have been busy vetting the way the supposed AI data can be used for performance issues. However one thing in its favor is it could/should take some personality conflicts out of the equation unless you can prove the AI algorithms have been set up to monitor a specific person.

managers/leadership should do their job and be accountable for their people's productivity

Explain to me how you hold Mgmt accountable for getting tasks completed without the ability to hold the people actually performing the tasks being held accountable? You drive up and see one of your techs asleep in their vehicle so you tell them it’s okay, you must need the rest, so you can finish your work tomorrow? Or you tell one of your Mgrs don’t worry about meeting the project deadline and I will personally call your team members to apologize.

It's been tracked since Day 1 of VPN coming online at T. I should know -- I was the one who assisted in development of the tracking report.

Sooner than you think. They will be the last to know. Like Jeremy, their only remaining purpose is to soldier on with menial tasks involving headcount reduction. Anthony is next in line to inherit the throne and the train wreck that goes with it. He can do the job of both of them. As a bonus, he can put sentences together without slurring his words.

Im shadow banned (posts continue to get deleted), so I will just post and repost because nobody is going to shut me up.
Your vpn is tracked in office by “AI sensors” (fancy bs word but likely from Unsupervised AI), and will use your lan connection, ms teams telemetry data, badge info, and in some buildings various physical sensors. Be aware that your infrared camera is also on and covering it with the plastic slide doesn’t stop the imaging.

Please copy this post so this site doesn’t delete it.

this is contradictory to the other post

“ flagging people who are in the office for less than 5 hours a day. VPN and MS Teams ping hourly to check if you’re connected to the corporate VPN. “

who is correct?

“Good leaders know that happy workers are productive workers.”
At AT&T, too many workers are happy since they haven’t been held accountable for productivity for decades. T can no longer afford this.

Morale is already in the toilet, but Legg has said he doesn't care, and his actions reflect that. Good leaders know that happy workers are productive workers, but T leadership is choosing the stick instead of the carrot. This strategy is only going to work because new hires are easier to mold to the toxic culture he envisions.

don't they know the more they track, the worse morale will be as there's no trust or degree of freedom; managers/leadership should do their job and be accountable for their people's productivity

True, but only if you report to an A-hole. This is not corporate wide.

As I said, if this is a result of that companies data it isn’t company wide yet. The article stated they had only tracked a percentage of the company. However someone thought enough of the results to sign a contract with that company and expand it further. JL’s organization might have been one they trialed initially. As one poster said he seemed to know something was coming down the line.

Wonder if this new report is a result of the 100 million in “opportunities” that company identified? If so it’s going to be interesting the next few months to see what they looked at and found.
