Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Is CarePlus a scam for all employees except executives?

Serious question - serious replies only!

It is cheap in order to incentivize signup and it is offered to all employees, and it is separate from regular health insurance. It is mostly or all self funded (I believe) so the company has a very high level of control over the approval process.
Many employee benefits need to be offered to a broad range of employees in order to be tax deductible as a business expense.

Just wondering if anyone has personally benefited from CarePlus or knows somebody who has benefited or who has been denied. It just seems like too sweet a deal - maybe just for very highly paid executives?

Any personal experience or insight would be valuable information for all employees. Does anybody know the number of employees who have benefited or the amount of benefits paid out?

I see CarePlus Health as an Insurance Carrier in the hospitals down south. It has some of the lowest deductibles and in-patient copays when you have to be admitted in the hospital. No I don’t work in HR but a past T employee.

When my family needed coverage promised under CarePlus it was quick to reject claims. (Yes we contacted agents who said it was approved-medical bills still came with us on the hook after they changed their mind after treatment)

As a shareholder, ie your boss, I say that Care Plus is great as long as it helps you keep making money for me!

Thousands have used it and Care Plus no longer reimburses for hearing aids. If it covers a hangnail it is worth $12 yr. Why are you asking OP? Want to take Care Plus away too or are you just bored?

Many retirees use it & it can cover experimental treatments insurance does not. It does cover hearing aids, cataract femtosecond laser surgery, shots for traveling that aren't covered by regular insurance. None of us know what's in store for us tomorrow. $1.00 a month is nothing compared to what you may need in the future. Don't be so quick to dismiss based only on what you know today!

CarePlus is a tax deductible executive benefit funded by contributions from the employee base.

I'll also bet nobody on this forum has any positive personal experience with it.

Only level 5+ need apply!

I don't have anything to offer personally but i'd be interested in any personal experience from anybody who has. It has seemed like a good deal to me.

Yeah, an anonymous layoff forum is a good place to ask such a question

FYI: If you can't share information about a benefits program, then you're doing something illegal.
