I'm worn out

Ok, its been 2 months since we laid off the last huge group of employees. In April I watched some dead wood go, but in October I watched some pretty strong folks move on.

Since then, I've waited to hear what we'll be doing differently, or how we'll change our business. Instead I get statement about Diversified Portfolio, and protect the Dividend.

I give up. I'm still here and still paid and I'll go through the motions, but at this point I have lost all confidence in our ability to lead through this downturn.

I hope that either Exxon buys us, or that my boss will somehow figure out that I secretly just wish to be laid off. Either way I get put out of my misery. I don't want to just leave cause I walk away from enough stock to make a real difference to my retirement. So, in reality, I am just a wh*re who comes to get a paycheck and pretend to like being here.

I'm there with you, I'm currently a new hire and it is very disheartening to see not only good workers go but to stay and suffer in this confused reorganization process. I'm assuming you may have gone through more in your career than myself, but I truly hope that you don't lose your confidence in this company. Yeah, there may have been some people staying in upper management that others aren't as happy about..but there are also young people who are hopeful and trying their hardest to keep this company going. ConocoPhillips had to learn a hard lesson during this economic downturn but at least you've still got a job! Don't give up hope, this is the time that we can really change things and make things better with a little extra work and communication to management. Me and the other new hires look up to those who have more experience than ourselves, please be careful about saying this around them. It's already disheartening to come into your first "big girl/guy" job and go through layoffs within the first 3 months...you've just got to stay optimistic

Worn out too man - worn out too

I see the same thing in my unit. This last round took us down to a skeleton crew and the workload didn't decrease one little bit. If anything we have more process loaded on us because all the managers are new in their jobs and want to try to make a name for themselves. The other day I had to schedule three separate meetings with different groups to get their "endorsement" for a project even though the decision had already been made, the funds committed to the partner in our contract, and the partner and project was waiting on COP to answer. We are slow now and getting slower.

This is a good posting . ... That is how honest people feel.. I don't know why some others are slamming him ..

What a shame that some good person got laid off and you scraped by once more. Hopefully you will be the next deadwood to get cut.

Are we going to bring back the C.A.R.E Card program? I think it's important that we know who has been walking around with an untied shoe lace... Better yet, why doesn't HSE create a policy that states all employees need to wear Velcro shoes to elimate the risk of an untied shoe lace.

It's funny you saw a lot of deadwood let go in April - who's to say you aren't deadwood?

Apparently you haven't seen the stock prices today. You're shares equate to a lot of lost money in that ole retirement you have created in your mind.
