The whole process was clouded with 'the good ole boys' cronie-ism. Anyone in a remote location was out of site out of mind. The people 'left standing' were some of the best employees I have encountered, but back-room deals were made. There was suppose to be transparency and that did not happen. Jobs were not awarded on performance, but on who you knew or who fought for you. I can't believe we are releasing employees with <2 years, yet hiring college grads. Our leadership should be ashamed of the ethos of the new 'Chevron Way'. I use to be proud of my company....now I am sad.
The corporate leadership team should be held accountable for allowing us to get in this situation. We were not 'lean and mean'. I understand all companies in this sector are laying off, but not to this level. . This company cares more about its shareholders than its employees. Watson is proud he can save the dividend to stockholders. Is he feeling any pain in his wallet??? Let's see what his bonus is for 2016!
To those left standing, my advice is to embrace new opportunities and don't look back. This company isn't worth it.
