I guess the board members like "value" and seemed to think that they were getting it with essentially two CEOs for the price of one, which seemed too tempting to pass up. This leading to the exit of Dadi Perlmutter who was probably competing for the same spot. Perlmutter should have got himself a Sarah Palin in the last minute to stand any chance.
What they got was double the trouble. McAfee? Missing the boat on Mobile?
It wasn't even THAT long before Renee James announces she's pursuing a CEO opportunity elsewhere. That along is a rather unusual move, as most seem to announce such things after they have secured a position elsewhere already. What's she been doing for the past year or so? Fear not, she's been diligently analyzing the stock market and insider information to make sure that she cashed out most of her tens of millions of dollars in stock at the optimal time, netting her the top possible dollar to the penny.
Chalk it up as another bad Intel decision to add to the file of major blunders...
