Honeywell's New Vision Statement: Check Your Ambition at the Door

There are zero opportunities for growth. Leadership does not respect the employees enough to communicate regularly about the future of the company. Furloughs and Layoffs are announced via email with no warning and no explanation. Leadership actively discourages employees from pursuing higher education and denies applications for tuition reimbursement out of hand without following proper procedure as stated on their website. Mandatory unpaid overtime has been enacted twice in the past 3 years, and the last one was following a mandatory furlough. Yearly merit raises have been cancelled twice since I’ve been there, despite record high stock prices. Medical plans have all been converted to catastrophic only plans with high deductibles. Company 401k match is at an all-time low compared to the industry average.

The expectation seems to be that we care about the future of a company that doesn't care about the future of us. Management would do well to remember that employment is supposed to be a relationship. And not an abusive one at that.

And here’s a news flash for you, Honeywell. Somebody won the 777x flight controls program. It just wasn’t you. So the bullshit about a cyclic industry and slow growth is because you as leaders of the organization have chosen to be uncompetitive within the industry. Not because programs aren’t available. Stop making excuses for driving Honeywell into the ground.

I am on a committee to help boost morale...what a joke! No money, no support, but somehow we are supposed to sprinkle magic pixie dust and everyone will be happy again! In the meantime you can cut the air with a knife. People are going to end up hurt or worse because if all this stress. Maybe this is how corporate wants to weed us out...

My idea is to get all people together and create circle of "friends" that will help each other to get out, find new job, maybe create a consulting company together. Personally, after X-teen years here, I hear only b--ching and complaining. Company s--- big time, but people s--- too. Lets unite and do something good. Maybe create a group on Facebook, LinkedIn etc. Help each other with jobs, share opportunities. SO WE JUST DUMP THIS PLACE and stop talking about it altogether :-).

Right on buddy. I had been in Tempe feeling the pain. Tried hard to get a good or at least decent spot in those "nine squares". Oh well, there was no value to argue defending your accomplishment for being a good and dedicated employee. Out I went and it's was the best move I have ever made in my entire career. Stress level went down as soon I walked out the door.

I was asked to propose ideas for growth. I hate to say this, but I smiled and said "I'll get right on it!" In my mind I was saying - fuc* you Honeywell while continuing my search for better opportunities. I should be out of this nightmare soon. 10 years w/ Honeywell is enough for me. ~Sr. Engineer who is also packing his/her bags. ;-)
