Despite what we all think about BK's leadership prowess, nothing much will change at Intel until the day some company like AMD/ARM/IBM is able to take market share away from Intel and cut off the cash cow. Intel sells processor chips at daylight robbery prices, but what can one do when there is literally no alternative for donkey years! I would really like to see AMD deliver on Zen and give consumers a choice, but looking at AMD's history, delivering is not one of their strength.
Intel's culture of building fiefdom, internal turf fighting, back stabbing, brown nosing, entertaining the higher ups, parties and drinking sessions with highers ups, all these culture are built over years due to Intel's grip on monopoly of the processor market. Go over to Asea, walk into a PC mall or electronic mall, you'll see at least 20 choices of Intel laptop/PC for every AMD laptop/PC. Most don't even carry AMD. Even if you want to buy a AMD laptop/PC, you'll need to run around to find one.
BK and gang can sing about 5G, big data IoT, drones, I simply don't see it going big time with Intel a major player. But what I can see is that there are MANY Intelliers who believe Intel is still the greatest and are giving their life to Intel, even to the stage of neglecting their own spouse and kids.
Where will Intel be at end of 2017? I would think another massive layoff at Intel if AMD is able to deliver on Zen. Although majority of my ex-colleagues at Intel thinks I'm just being sour grapes. Only time will tell.
