Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Things to remember to do before leaving

  1. Make sure you have your free credit monitoring signed up. It will be good until the end of the year.

  2. Make sure to buy a copy of Microsoft office from Corporateperks. $9.95 if you download it. You'll need it to work on your resume.

  3. If you are on corporate phone plan, consider buying a new phone before you switch to personal paid plan. The corporate discounts are pretty good.

  4. Check to make sure any of your affinity programs (hotel, airline etc.) have personal e-mail address instead of Cisco address.

Others can feel free to add to this list.

From stock administration page you can download data about all your stock transactions (ESPP, RSU, ESOP). This will help you with filing your taxes in future and more importantly in an unfortunate scenario if you get audited by IRS.

You are technically correct that the terms of the licensing agreement are tied to your employment. However there is no back end check on activation that you are still an employee. So in the strictest sense yes, you are in violation of the licensing agreement....

A few years back the $9.95 Microsoft Office license terminated with your employment so read the current terms before spending the money.

If you were on a corporate plan for phone consider switching to personal paid while you still have access to Cisco E-mail. You can register for the Cisco employee discount at VZ for example and verify it. They say they will periodically have you reverify but not sure how long that is good for.

If you have FIOS service you can also get a discount on that.
