Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

All severance packages are offered, not given and definitely negotiable.

Basic severance: 2 weeks for the 1st year w/1 week for each year thereafter

Enhanced severance: 4 weeks for the 1st year w/2 weeks for each year thereafter

Again: you don't agree with the offer, don't accept and negotiate better package. When negotiating know when yo say when. Oracle will negotiate in good faith, but will not be held hostage if the know they will win a lawsuit based on below.

Generally, Oracle's severance packages are determined by multiple factors:

1. The number of protected categories the employee falls into: age, s-x, ethnicity, etc....

2. The more categories -- the better

3. Length of employment

4. More years - the better

5. Position (ie...IC 2-5, Manager M1-M6)

6. The higher the better

7. What you know that if revealed would negatively reflect on Oracle

8. The more you know, the better

Does previous time with companies purchased by Oracle count in the severance payout?

What I heard is 1 week, not 1 month for each addition year

4 weeks for the first year of employment, 1 week for each additional year, maximum of 26 weeks. This was in the U. S. - may be different in other countries.

First, I think it depend on where you live and the law in your country.

Second, I think either two weeks or one month for the first year only, one week for each addition year.

Someone posted before that it was 1 months severance for each year worked.
