Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Guidance on PDC success

I was one of the employees left standing after the ROM last year. Was fortunate enough to get a long transition period and have been unsuccessful in the fall PDC (maybe due to the time I had) vs the "must moves".

In the off-cycle postings, I've been told by my PDR that I've been pretty consistently been short-listed on 80%-90% of the jobs I'd been posting for.

Ive got a cross-functional set of skills between ops and FE and hold an engineering degree and an MBA.

Is there any guidance or strategy you guys can provide for success in the next PDC as I'll be a "must move".

Thanks in advance

I knew a guy who had been remaining as an expat in Thailand Chevron. Amazing!! These are the guy who know how to play the system to their personal advantage. There were many like him in Thailand.

The PDC process is a scam. The ePMP is a form-filling exercise.

Look at your most successful peers and learn how to deep throat the way they do

Agree with everyone else, PDCs and PMPs are rigged processes for leaders to protect their friends. I would estimate less than 20% of positions are made purely on competency. Start butt kissing all the job owners.

I don't agree with p--pDC process is a way to know what type of skillsets are available, what projects are upcoming and making sure the right skillsets are placed in the right positions. Unfortunately, during the past 10 years, all I saw was a bunch of people going around the process and downright lying to get the jobs that would move them up the corporate ladder. That is not the fault of the PDC process as a methodology but the people involved.

People lie and move into positions, then the BU finds out about the lie and instead of taking appropriate actions, they cover it up and just move that person out of the team altogether. That is not the way to deal with that kind of a situation.

Internally, steps need to be taken to make changes. I am no longer internal to CVX but spent a lot of time in the PDC process.

The PDC is a rigged game. It's only a front used in Chevron and other large corporate businesses as a method to hire who they want and appear they have a fair process in place. It's a buffer that's used to protect them from claims of discrimination.

I relied on my PDR which is a total mistake. Take control and take to every position owner and sell yourself. And then there was a previous boss who was told that his position was going away so he came after mine and ultimately contributed to pushing me out. Watch out for yourself and take control.

Forget it.... most of the PDC jobs already pre-determined before the PDC meeting. Most people do the behind the scene networking (the politically correct word) to get the position secured. If you do not have tricks in your bag to net the job and believe that the PDC committee will decide during their meeting, you are too naive. Good luck and pray hard. Read into the past postings and you will see many real stories.

You already dodge the bullet having a long transition time from the Left Standing status, and now onto the PDC .... God must be on your side.

I know too many people who just submit their GO-400-2 and think they are done. Sounds like you are talking to your PDR so good on that. Network your interest with the position owner and seek out anyone you know in the group (or formerly in the group and still in good standing relationship wise) to help you learn about the posting which shows your interest. That will get you a lead over the paper submitters who think they got the job in the bag. Pretty common sense stuff. Good luck!

Apologize for the grammar errors, just jotted down and posted what I was thinking before proof-reading.
