Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Morale Down Nationwide as Lowe's stumbles...

I've been talking to the national vendors for Lowe's, the folks who come in to work in the stores. Without exception, they tell me that morale is down everywhere due to this restructuring. Sales are soft, too. Lowe's is desperate, the managers are fumbling and blaming the workers for the problems.

A vendor that works 7 stores in South Florida says he's seeing so much turnover and new hiring - in an attempt to keep the stores running - that he doesn't recognize half the staff each time he visits these stores, including mine! :o Wow, what a boondoggle this new "management" is. The CEOs and upper managers will make their unjustifiably high salaries, but the stores are in disarray.

What a colossal blunder...Lowe's will never catch Home Depot, and will probably slip to 3rd in the big box DIY market soon. When the DIY "craze" is over, sell all your stock in Lowe's (if you're stupid enough to have any in the first place) because they will tank big time.

Dont even get me started on the trips, corporate jet, helicopter or company credit card expenses for these big wigs.

I was at Corporate 15 years after starting in the store.

It is the hard workers that bonded like family doing whatever needed to make things work.

Not the greed at the top now behind bullet proof glass on 7th floor at Corporate with their own private elevator.

I would hate for them to have to talk to the hard working loyal employees when they are even at their offices.

Smoke mirrors and lies

Lowe's has always blamed the workers for the issues they have. I didn't work in a store but at used to be the HQ in Wilkes. When they purchased the old mall they spent more on the parking lot than they did on the salaries of the workers there. The re-structured the parking lot 3 times in less than 5 years and the only thing its used for is to park your car...!?!? All they are concerned about is impressing all the corporate visitors that come to meet with them. If I were the CEO I would be ashamed to air another commercial until I got this mess straightened out. Why would I want to spend my money at a company that cares so little about the people that work for them?

I can still remember going to those morale boosting meetings just to have Larry Stone get up in front of all of us and tell us they were going to get rid of the "dead weight" and we knew he was talking about those of us who didn't make enough to matter. Problem is, that was the "good old days!" Sure they cut some people but not like they do now. It's funny that the cuts always start at the bottom and never from the top where it would really make a difference. I am ashamed to say I ever worked for a company that thought so little of their employees. Bring back the factory jobs! At least you did have some job security there and if you lost your job it was because you weren't performing not because the CEO, CFO, VP, or Director, would offer up his entire staff just so he/she could keep his/her big salary, bonus, and stock options. I know when our group was let go our director refused to do their dirty work and sacrificed her own position first.

It's a joke because the SM selected the Service Managers and they are the wrong folks most of the time. Any one with a brain and some morals won't kiss a-- just to kiss a--. They will stand up for themselves. The fun will begin soon as it fails who will be left?? What about inventory?? No DM's to care about it. Mindless CSA's and Specialists doing the cycle counts which are stupid because they don't target the material that is selling. You are counting non stock and small items. Most stores are failing inventory. No one cares to take the role.... Poor LP's.. Losing battle.
