Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Instead of an authoritarian structure, HAH should have member facing associates driving pilots and change

I have heard leaders are in a lot more meetings. Getting weird vibes from my coach. I think they realized that HAH has an epically dysfunctional culture, and just about all of leadership has turned over.

The people left are probably trying to figure out how to restructure to make the program friendly to members, associates and profits. This is a massive undertaking. Instead of an authoritarian structure, HAH should have member facing associates driving pilots and change. In an ideal world, a health coach would be the gatekeeper to Humana.

We would have the authority to control the member's communication across all parts of Humana. We would be member centered.

Because our competence is so limited by Humana's inefficiencies and red tape, this program is choking to death as Seniors learn not to pick up their phones.

The way the long hours were addressed in that last meeting: Talk to your coach---Sure, been there done that. Work smarter, not harder: Isn't that what we are all trying to do? Best practices: using them and still have to pull 9 and 10 hour days. No light at the end of a very dark tunnel. Yes, I am actively looking for another position.

I am an RN with more education and higher educational degree than MF. I have been a nurse for more than 30 years and held high nursing management jobs in hospitals. But because my family decided to relocate to a rural area ...this job was perfect for my family and myself. However now I am being micromanaged with almost every minute and every word said, analyzed by management. I have tried to give some suggestions and feedback but was labeled a complainer. I have never had a job where I was so micromanaged and made to feel that I was not doing a successful job. I have members that I have worked with for almost 6 years and can't remember the last time I had a declination. Members seem to like and value working with me but I am still not respected as an employee. Yes our members matter and I want to do everything I can for them. But my family matters more to me. You are making us chose between them and that is not right. We educate our members on making healthy life choices but put ourselves in a toxic setting. This has been a good company to work for...and can be again. But please listen Mr Frank to what you are doing to us. Many of the questions and comments in the Buzz during our last meeting pertained to the long hours and unrealistic expectation that were being forced on us. These questions were really not addressed. Did Management see them? Please listen...Most of us need our jobs..but at what cost. My family is not happy when I cannot eat dinner with them at night or spend the evening with them. So is it my family.....or my job. I remember the days when I could have both.

It is Sunday and I am having to catch up on care plans that I did not get done last week because after 10 hours per day Just was burned out. I have a class that is required by the end of the month; and I have a blind audit that I need to get done today. Wonder how many of our supervisors are working. I just received the Fortune Magazine issue with list of the 100 best companies to work for. Hey...Humana was not one of them. But one of the CEO's of a health oriented company who was on that list said "If we treat our employees well, we'll take care of our customers, and if we run the business well, we'll take care of our shareholders. Everything flows from that, and it has for many decades" MF....take care of your employees first and then other things will start falling into place. Your employees are not happy. We love our members and do our best....but we are burned out and we are not being taken care of or respected. . That is the step that is missing and must come first. Hope you are enjoying your day off MF.

Yes people who are leaving are the income generators for the programs. So management is left without the ability to generate income. What will happen then? It takes time to orient people and cost a lot of money.

This is far more credit than Humana is due. With MF in charge that will never happen. His toxic, work them to death attitude has been present from day one. He does not have Member calling and saying they went to the hospital only to find out humana did not approve a surgery. He does it for the check and we all suffer.

I have a new job lined up. So tired of the management and lack of respect for my experience and credentials. Yet, I feel awful for leaving my poor members defenseless to navigate through this horrible Humana system. The constant threats and demeaning rhetoric given to employees by management is a reflection of how this company treats not just employees but it's members as well.
