ET you are a good imposter! Praising yourself? Don't you have better things to do? You back stabbed all your way up and good at hijacking others accomplishments. Good riddance

I worked in ET's org. He is one of the best VPs I ever worked for and I have been around the block for a long time in this industry. He is a good guy with rare talents that made a positive impact on the company.

He was key in delivering key technologies for QCOM, including 10nm. Fom what I hear, he is laughing all the way to the bank at Apple. Well deserved!

So cheap and created cheap publicity by creating cheap buzz on LinkedIn, how cheap can anybody get. AAPL for sure shouldn't tolerate such cheap gimmicks

I have been working in the industry for more than 25 years and I can comfortably say that this guy is one of the best (if not the best) engineer and manager I have had the pleasure to work with. I have never seen such technical depth and strategic big picture thinking at the same time with anyone else. He will make a big impact in any organization he joins or leads

Huge loss for Qualcomm. Big win for Apple. He'll do great at Apple.

Major brain drain. Smart engineers and VPs who can find jobs elsewhere are running to the door. Do you think Intel or Apple would hire the mediocre? They hire the BEST.

The rest at QC who cannot find jobs elsewhere, stay and complain. And moan how bad the people who are leaving are.

QC pays very little and works engineers to death. Wake up and start working on your resumes. No future in San Diego. I am working on my resume now at work

Yup. Quic has two or more directors made responsible for each dev branch. Like the work of maintaining a single branch warrants that. Waste of resource.

The leadership s---s and the VP is absolutely useless, a bombastic s--- up who is a part of the good old boys club, interested in s---ing up to move to the next level. Does not really give a damn about the people he is "leading".

by
| | Reply
Post ID: @6zxd+NwUWIIl

All Quic does is propagate changes from one branch to another and obstruct other people's changes from going in. Quic just cares about visibility.

How is the QuIC linux team now a days. Is it as bad as it has been with the same lousy leadership?

Smart guy saw the writing on the wall.

The Q will be a much smaller company once Apple destroys the licensing business model. The whole industry and even governments are piling on Q.

NXPI is a defensive move. Integration will be a major headache that will slow everyone down.

If ET s---s, he will have a very short tenure at Apple. Those guys don't mess around.

Nobody here is saying he's a baseband guy.

Only the clueless bloggers are saying that.

Guys,

Instead of fighting here, just list what VP is contribuiting at QC? None....just start with PTE senior VP, CE VP, Quality VP, SW VP, SLT VP, OPs VP? Anyone else...:

ET built up the garbage. His team was the worst in technical ability, but he was good at promoting those who kisses his a--. He is a device guy, not baseband SOC. He was not better than other vps. It could be interesting to see how those who kissed his a-- survive here without his umbrella.

Is that you ET disguised as a peer VP? I can see how this is a smart move of yours because mentioning names will take down this thread. You are really amazing.

@3nuq.....ET sabotaged many people to get to the vp position...including the person u have mentioned....he promoted people who s---ed up to him....made them sr.dir and principal engg. He created a catorie of people who got the benefits.....he messed with the process/tech team which lead their vp to leave....then led to a yield fiasco ...never mind the part he had in 810.....he is supposed to be the "technologist" which brought 810...... he crippled the Bdc team to make it subservient to him......

What has succeeded under him?... he always tried to gobble up as many groups as possible.....he failed to execute on his assigned to him....... good riddance

Either way this is ominous. If he is good, then it is a loss to Q. If he is bad, the rewarding system of Q has big problem.

At QC I have seen the worst management in last 20 years in the industry. Specially at the Quality Team.

Maybe they didn't perform well at QCOM because the leadership there s---s and can't get performance out of their engineers.

I've seen mediocre engineers at one company flourish at another - and vice versa - great engineers turn to sh1t under poor leadership.

Does not matter if VP or Engineer leaves the company whoever staying is the best!!!

@1ini

"Also, I don't think Apple is in the habit of hiring mediocre engineers "

Not sure if that is accurate. I see a lot and lot of Qualcomm folks hired at Apple. Folks that were quiet average and below average performers at QCOM. Yet they made it through the interviews at Apple. Very good at crunching for interviews,. Probably same way they graduated... As for the VP, not sure what's going on there... Maybe he is good and was stuck Ina bad place... Or apple just wanted to stick it to QCOM by poaching folks from them...

Agree QCT leadership is weak and not timely passion. He should be eliminated many years ago. He created so many useless duplication in IP developments and screwed up due to lack of skill sets from him and his poor org.

I love how the Q fanboys say this guy was such a turd. If so, ask yourselves this...

How did a turd make it to one of the highest technical positions at QCT?

If the turd was identified as such many years ago, as was claimed, why was he not let go? Why was he allowed to set techinacal direction and mandate the technology roadmap?

MAYBE there are lots of turds at the Q and they can't tell the difference between good and bad execution?

Must be a huge relief to get rid of this guy knowing that your LEADERS can't even correct problems in a timely manner. QCT is such a sh!tshow if that's the case.

Are there any good vp's in Q? I know a couple, one of them is a complete jerk who demotivates anyone not motivated by fear of losing their green card, another is a glorified PM who is only a VP because it's a she near as I can tell, another is completely out of touch because he gets his info from people trying to make themselves look good and doesn't verify.

Last good VP I knew personally was almost two decades ago. Let them all leave and the company will be better off for it.

ET was introduced as a baseband expert. What a joke? He is not a modem architect. Not a system architect. Keep lying as he did here. His departure is huge relief for qcom.

It is conceivable that he was a brilliant person, but bad at getting things done right. From my experience at interviewing at companies like Apple, they care too much about academic knowledge, which I'm sure he has a lot of. Your past experience is just a talking point to break the ice.

Post ID: @1bzj+NwUWIIl

...............Rats abandon a sinking ship...... his exit was on the cards since last year..... Q saved money on severance....... too many windbags in Q who survive on a good talk..... ... in the long run ...this person caused more damage to Q than good......

I think the quote below says it all.........

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings has been very clear about what his organization does with its brilliant jerks: It gets rid of them. As he has said in the past about them: "Some companies tolerate them. For us, the cost to effective teamwork is too high." ... ....

So why did QCT leadership allow this below average group to lead and determine the technology roadmap?

Can't have it both ways.

Either he and his org were bad which makes QCT and their leadership look bad for letting him exist in the org for so long or he was good and it's a big loss for the Q.

Pick one.

by
| | Reply
Post ID: @1yan+NwUWIIl

The quality of his org was not close to QCT average. His org was crap and full of big mouths.

by

Post ID: @1nqe+NwUWIIl

lol it's fun to listen to all the QC engineers playing the blame game. This is actually a sign of panic.

Either way it looks bad for the Q.

Either he was good and it's a big loss OR he was bad and Q was too incompetent to see it at and let him go earlier when the supposed failures happened.

Use logic people.
