Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

The most likely jobs to go?

No one on here may know exactly what will transpire, but major changes are coming, and managers as well as the other higher-paid staff will be the most affected. IMO the ones that need to go:

  1. LPs, a.k.a "RoboCops." Let's face it, these police academy flunkies couldn't catch their a-- if it fell out of their pants. They are some of the highest paid folks in the stores and they in NO WAY deserve this pay. They'll be sliced and diced, that's for sure.

  2. Pro Services & Install Sales. These arrogant, lazy d---s that kiss contractors asses are vastly overpaid, and you know it. How many times have you wanted to give one of these a--holes a rap in the beak? I don't know about your store, but they are not the top earning area...not even close and they in no way justify their salaries. The contractors can shove a 2x4 up their asses.

  3. Area managers. Look, mine was gone on FMLA for 2 weeks and the place ran like a top and was pleasant. Now he's back and up our a-- because we don't need him! You know what I mean. A store manager and 2 ASMs in a large store is all you need if you have qualified FT folks. Sorry you managerial types, you're no longer economically viable.

I like watching these changes that don't affect me...this isn't my career (poor saps).

Quote: I am a CSA, not a Specialist, but I can tell you have no experience in Pro Sales. The guys in our store work their asses off. Not only do they deal with Contractors, they pull orders, cover departments that have no coverage, cover code 3's in lumber, load, deal with the admin aspects of the job, deal with all building materials questions (our desk is customer service desk #2).....and a lot more....oh yea, we go out and help with stock on truck days to help whiny associates like you.

...You must work at the same Pro desk I do! I am a specialist and I AM paid well, however I am paid nowhere close to what I or anyone doing the amount of work or covering the amount of departments I do should. We work our asses off here and with the direction this company is going it's only going to get worse as WE will be the ones ordering and following up on EVERYTHING!.. Original poster come take a "rap at my beak" I'll make sure you swallow every single tooth that you have in your punk-a-- head. If this isn't your career then you must be horrible at whatever your career is since you are supplementing income by working at Lowe's. BTW Pro at my store on average accounts for roughly 40% of sales... $49,000,000 last fiscal year.

The person who posted this is clearly disgruntled. Most-likely an ex Dept Mgr. Poor guy...

I am a Loss Prevention Manager in California. Even though I'd like to lash back with the same degree of rudeness, I have to agree with you about LP's being worthless. In fact, I'll bet the majority of experienced LP Managers would.

Lowe's pays a decent salary for us doing EXACTLY what they want. We aren't "Managers" but more like compliancy babysitters.

We have to be involved in all the processes that other people do and control shrink at the same time. We have tons of computer input, inspections, reviews, audits, pre cons, mid cons, investigations, programs, communication....

It is next to impossible to make a "Lowe's Approved" stop on a Shoplifter so you wont see too many of those from us.

Lowe's will not allow us to speak to a customer getting a refund. We are not allowed to investigate whether or not a customer actually entered the building with the merchandise they are returning. They want us to let them go then spend 3 hours putting together a case so it can go through numerous people/payroll in the hope that we MIGHT get an okay to de-value their in store credit card. In most cases they've used or converted it by the time we get to it. STUPID!

From the standpoint of someone like you who physically works in the store and has to sweat and deal with a massive work list every day, I see where you're coming from. You don't see nor understand just how much we do or deal with. We are paid to serve a different purpose and deal with Managers, Head Cashiers and the law. There are so many facets to our position and I doubt you would see the worth without understanding Liability, Profit and Loss and the factors that truly impact the shrink line.

I look at my team as family. We all have an important role to play in the Lowe's business. Lowe's makes an agreement (job description) with that person as to what they will do for the company and how much they will be paid. If I thought there was an easier job that paid more I sure would seek out THAT position.

Try and smile more :)

Actually, I'm not LP. I just happen to understand what they can do for us as long as there's a good partnership. I hope it's not true, cuz our LP does a heck of a job. Busts shoplifters, always trains with front end and sales floor people, and our store respects them.

Sounds like someone probably hates being told the correct way to do things, based on your description of LP. Probably one of those people who work in lumber but can't tell the difference between white wood and treated lumber, or a cashier that rings up lumber under nonstock to cut people a discount and got called out on it, orbhas a friend who got caught as an internal. Hey, these changes may be true (the rumors), but if they are, you can expect about half the stores to see a doubling of their shrink exactly because of people like you who think they know everything.

Installs goes when cpo comes. That's been known for years. Also F you buddy. I haves managed our installers for 5 years and keep in check while keeping exceptions down and file claims to recoop money from vendors.
